MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – He has yet to formally announce his choice for his party’s candidate for the 2016 Philippine presidential elections, but already, President NoyNoy Aquino has ‘annointed’ his 2022 choice for president — Actor Dingdong Dantes.

Dantes, who recently married fellow actor Marian Rivera in what was billed a ‘Royal Wedding,’ is 34 years old and is ineligible to run for president in 2016. The miniimum age to run for president is 40. Aquino was the Best Man during the Dantes-Rivera wedding.

The actor is on the short list of the Liberal Party’s senatorial slate for 2016.

Champion boxer Manny Pacquiao, 36, had previously announced his intention to run for president. Like Dantes, Pacquiao is not qualified to run in 2016 because he is under-age. But the boxer is already an elected congressman, representing his province of Sarangani. He ran under the banner of the Nacionalista Party.

Fast forward to 2022. Dantes vs. Pacquiao for Philippine president.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – Filipino champion boxer Manny Pacquiao is very confident that he will beat American Floyd Mayweather when they meet on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for the “Fight of the Century.”

“Mayweather has a history of domestic violence against women,” Pacquiao said, “so I don’t think he has the skills to defeat a real man like myself, ” the Filipino boxer said.

Pacquiao was reacting to an article published today about Mayweather’s disturbing history of violence against women.

“As a congressman, a Christian and a faithful husband, I am very angry at what I have been hearing about Mayweather’s history of abusing women. I can’t imagine myself beating my wife or my mom for that matter,” Pacquiao said.

“My anger will give me the motivation to beat the hell out of him on May 2nd,” Pacquiao said in  his native Tagalog language.

FILIPINOS WILL HAVE FREE LIVE ACCESS TO PACQUIAO-MAYWEATHER FIGHT VIA PPV; MAY 3 IS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY

CaptureLAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – While the live audience for the  Pacquiao-Mayweather fight will fork out hundreds or thousands of dollars, and Pay-Per-View subscribers will be about $100 poorer, Filipinos will have free, live access to the once-in-a-lifetime spectacle.

The Filipino boxer will face the American in what is being billed the “Fight of the Century” on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Whenever Pacquiao fights, the entire Philippines comes to a standstill. Government armed forces and the rebels declare a ceasefire, crime rate drops to zero and the usual traffic congestion becomes nonexistent.

As a public service to the adoring Pacquiao fans, the Philippine government declared fight night (which is Sunday morning in the Philippines) a nonworking national holiday.

In addition, the government will provide the entire population with complimentary viewing of the boxing bout via PPV — Philippine PaPer View.

PPV is a newly-developed technology in the Philippines in which giant paper billboards are set up in every street corner, in churches and in public plazas.  Volunteers, connected through Skype audio direct from Las Vegas, will put up the round-by-round judges’ score on the paper board for all to see.

Expect a lot of cheering everywhere, not to mention air punching!
