Liquor Lovers Upset Over Suspension Of Tequila’s Twitter Account

img_7179SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – It’s Thanksgiving week and most people have started planning their traditional dinner menu including their choice of wine, champagne or liquor.

For many, tequila is their choice of liquor. They can’t do without it for their margarita, tequila sunrise or long island iced tea.

So it is no surpise that they were extremely upset to wake up this morning to find that the Twitter account of their favorite liquor has been suspended.

The complaints line of the San Francisco-based social media portal was overwhelmed with angry tequila lovers.

Twitter staff spent most of the day today fielding calls and explaining to their irate customers that the Twitter account that was suspended was for a different Tequila. Tina Tequila, that is.

Tila Tequila

The Twitter account of Tequila, reality TV-turned social media star, was suspended following a string of neo-Nazi tweets that drew increased attention over the weekend, when she attended a conference of “alt-right” white nationalists in Washington, D.C.

At the conference, the 35-year-old Vietnamese-American model posed for a photo in which she and two other individuals performed the Nazi salute. She shared it on Twitter, writing the caption, “Seig [sic] heil!”

So relax, real Tequila (the liquor) fans, you’re good to go. Tweet and Re-Tweet away!

Cheers!

New Anti-Marcos Hashtag Trends

IMG_7040.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Ah, the Philippines — a country divided.  Divided between colors (yellow and red), between generations (millennial vs. baby boomers), between pro- and anti-Duterte, between loyalists and activists, between saints and satan, between Cynthia Patag and Mocha Uson.

So, it isn’t really a surprise that protests and mass actions have followed Ferdinand E. Marcos’ surprise burial last week at the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani (National Penitentiary). It was described as the proverbial “thief in the night.”  Sneaky and conspiratory.

Social media has taken to the forefront in as far as people making their sentiments known. The hashtag #NeverAgain has been the battlecry of those who advocate that the Filipino people should never forget the atrocities that Marcos did during his Martial Law rule.

But now that Marcos’ remains now lie six feet under the ground at LNMB, a new movement is fast gaining ground.  It’s new battlecry hashtag: #UnburyMarcos.

No less than Senate President Aquilino Pimentel has said that Marcos’ burial can be reversed any time.

The division goes on.
