‘Fugivite’ Ex-Comelec Chair Andy Bautista Finally Returning To The Philippines!

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau). After all most five years in hiding, former Commission on Elections chairman Andy Bautista is finally returning to the Philippines.

Bautista, who was being investigated by the Senate for alleged unexplained wealth resulting from revelations by his own wife, flew to the U.S. on November 21, 2017. He refused to return to the Philippines despite a subpoena to attend a Senate probe, citing “medical challenges”, and added that he never received the summons sent by lawmakers.

His return to the Philippines was announced by Bautista himself on his Twitter account, and will reportedly attend the final UAAP game between U.P. and Ateneo at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

It may be difficult to spot Bautista since everyone is being asked to wear black during the game.

Maria Ressa Wants “Cease and Desist” Order Against Leni Robredo!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – No one messes with a Nobel Laureate, not even ex-Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo.

In a petition filed yesterday before a Manila Regional Trial Court, convicted criminal Maria Ressa asked that a “Cease and Desist” order be issued against Robredo.

Of late, Robredo has been making the rounds of public fora here and abroad, talking about disinformation in the Philippines — a battle cry that Ressa has been espousing for many years.

“It hurts Ressa’s ego that a defeated presidential candidate would suddenly take up an advocacy that has won her the Nobel Peace Prize,” a source close to the Rappler CEO told The Adobo Chronicles.

In her petition, Ressa said that Robredo does not have the proper credentials to be talking about disinformation.

No response from the Robredo camp as of press time.
