A Heavenly Conversation Between Miriam Santiago And Leni Robredo

Leni: Ha? Bakit?

Miriam: Inaayos pa niya yung conjugal property ninyo.

Robredo Wants Priests To Do Pray-overs During Drug Raids

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  In her first week as President Rodrigo Duterte’s designated Drug Czar, Vice President Leni Robredo has put forward a bunch of ideas which she thinks will improve the country’s war on (illegal) drugs.

She wants to stop Operation Tokhang.  She wants her commitee to welcome a U.N. investigation of the war on drugs.  She wants a bigger budget.  She wants the Commission on Human Rights and the Faith community represented on the committee.

Asked by The Adobo Chronicles what the Church can contribute to the campaign against illegal drugs, Robredo said she wants to assign priests and other Church leaders to join law enforcement teams when undertaking raids on suspected drug dealers and users.

”Instead of dealing with the suspects using guns, I want priests or bishops to pray-over the suspects, hoping that they will surrender peacefully.  This will avoid any violent or fatal confrontation with the police.”

CBCP Wants 14th Month Pay To Go Directly To The Catholic Church

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Should the 14th-month pay become part of the law of the land, none of that amount would go directly into the Filipino workers’ pockets. That is, if the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) had its way.

CBCP is proposing that the 14th-month pay be remitted directly to the Catholic Church, as part of its new tithing initiative.

A tithe in most religious groups usually consists of one tenth of a church member’s annual produce or earnings, given in support of the clergy and for other wordly purposes.

CBCB said the mandatory tithing, which will apply only to Catholics,  will replace the Sunday collection.

The idea came from a Nigerian Archbishop who reportedly asked the government to deduct tithe directlly from workers’ salaries.
