Filipinos Offended By Pope Francis’ Comment Calling Them Smugglers

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Filipinos worldwide couldn’t be more proud when Pope Francis personally attended the “Simbang Gabi” orgnized by Filipinos in The Vatican.

Simbang Gabi” is a Philippine  tradition involving a nine-day novena where Catholics attend early dawn masses in preparation for Christmas.

Francis, in his message during the Vatican Simbang Gabi, told Pinoys to be ‘smugglers of faith.’

That didn’t sit well with Filipinos in the Philippines and the entire diaspora. “There are smugglers amongst us, but not every Pinoy is a smuggler,” a Filipino now living in Rome told The Adobo Chronicles.

Looks like the Pope hit a nerve. Or shall we say pinched a nerve.

CBCP Orders Reading Of Robredo’s Drug War Exposé At First Day Of Simbang Gabi

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Christmas is in the air as the entire Catholic Filipino nation begins the traditional Simbang Gabi, the series of nine early dawn masses leading up to Christmas Day.

When the novena begins tomorrow, December 16, the faithful will hear first-hand, Leni Robredo’s explosive report on her findings while she was Drug Czar for 19 days.  The Vice President delayed her report in deference to the 2019 South East Asian Games which the Philippines hosted in the last two weeks.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has urged all parishes in the country to read the Robredo report in lieu of tomorrow’s homily.

It is not unusual for CBCB to ask churches to substitute homilies with pastoral letters it prepares on various social and political issues.

”We consider the drug war an issue that all devout Catholics should be concerned about and the Robredo report will tell all,” a CBCP spokesperson told The Adobo Chronicles.

Whether the report is really explosive as being hyped by the Office of the Vice President and members of the political Opposition remains to be seen. Otherwise,  Simbang Gabi-goers can use the few minutes during the homily to nap and recover some of the lost hours of sleep from rising early to attend the dawn mass.

A Heavenly Conversation Between Miriam Santiago And Leni Robredo, Part 2

Leni: Madam Miriam, sinesante na ako ni Tatay Digong.

Miriam:  Boba, alam ko.  Nasa langit ako.  Nakikita ko lahat ang nangyayari diyan sa lupa.

Leni: Anong masasabi niyo tungkol dito?

Miriam: Eh kung hindi ka ba naman tanga, tinanggap mo ang posisyon kahit alam mong walang tiwala sa iyo si Duterte.

Leni:  I did it for love.  Hindi ba sabi ni Lord, “Love your enemies?”

Miriam:  May pa love-love ka pang  sinasabi diyan. You knew this was coming, didn’t you? (Leni misheard.  She thought Miriam said “he was coming”)

Leni: Ay, magandang suggestion yan Madam.  Salamat.  Ang galing galing mo talaga.

Miriam: At ang katangaham mo, may forever.

END OF CONVERSATION.
