Move Over Lugaw, Here Comes Singanglaw

VIGAN, Ilocos Sur (The Adobo Chronicles, Vigan Bureau) – There’s no denying that Filipinos, especially the Ilocanos are tired of lugaw. They are now craving for sinanglaw, the Ilocano soup recipe consisting of beef innards (similar to pinapaitan.)

So move over, Leni “Lugaw” Robredo, here comes Bongbong “Sinanglaw” Marcos.

Last weekend, Ilocos Sur held what is believed to be the longest motorcade ever in the Philippines, when thousands and thousands of motorcycles trekked some 127 kilometers to show their support for their fellow Ilocano who is running for President in next year’s elections.

As one motorcade participant said in a post on social media, ”We don’t like lugaw. We like sinanglaw.”

#KayaMoYanLeni Trends on Twitter!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It looks like the 2022 election contest will be fought on social media. Since the Presidential and other candidates have formally filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) , memes of all sorts have sprung on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

As for Vice President Leni Robredo, a few hashtags have trended on the Internet, including #LabanLeni, #DapatSiLeni, and #LetLeniLead. But those are now all passé.

There is a new hashtag that’s now top trending on Twitter: #KayaMoYanLeni.

The new meme trended after that embarrassing video of Robredo struggling to remember her first legislative bill while she was a member of Congress, as she responded to a reporter’s question.

The new hashtag seems to offer support to the Vice President, encouraging her to remember or recall the title of her first legislative bill.’ After all, her friends at Rappler are just a phone call away. They have an archive of her first bill.
