Senator Tulfo’s Imaginary Chinese Invasion Of Philippine Streets

Senator Idol Raffy Tulfo’s sudden aversion to modernizing the country’s jeepneys seems to suggest he’s been in a Rip Van Winkle-style hibernation, awakening to a world where vehicular progress is the enemy.

His comparison of China’s territorial claims to the West Philippine Sea with the introduction of modern jeepneys is as absurd as comparing apples to intergalactic spaceships. While one involves geopolitical aggression, the other is a mere upgrade in the local commute system.

Perhaps Senator Tulfo’s interns should redirect their energy from misplaced analogies to conducting an inventory of Philippine bus companies. They would discover a trove of Chinese-made buses quietly cruising our streets for years, presumably without causing an “invasion” panic. Senator Tulfo’s selective concern for national sovereignty seems to be in need of a tune-up, preferably in the form of a reality check on the highways of progress.

The Hypocrisy Of Harry Roque

Ah, the dazzling display of selective morality by former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, who now recommends a drug test for President Bongbong Marcos to dispel rumors of illegal substance use.

One can’t help but marvel at Roque’s sudden concern for the sanctity of presidential sobriety. It’s a remarkable about-face from the days when he was in the Duterte camp, turning a blind eye to the president’s casual admission of marijuana use to stay awake during an ASEAN summit, not to mention allegations of his links to the drug trade.

The hypocrisy is almost poetic—Roque’s commitment to drug testing seemingly activated only when political alliances shifted. Perhaps Roque believes in the power of detoxifying political affiliations, where the results of a drug test can magically cleanse a leader’s image.

In this absurd theater of politics, the script is written in double standards, and the punchline is delivered with a straight face.

Sen. Manny Pacquiao Proposes Compensation For Filipinos Who Have Not Received Their National IDs

Senator Manny Pacquiao has stepped into the bureaucratic boxing ring by proposing a bill that promises financial consolation for Filipinos still waiting for their national IDs.

The proposed legislation dictates that the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) must pay citizens a whopping P1 per day of delay in ID delivery. Notably, this excludes the flimsy paper-generated printouts the PSA suggested recipients laminate themselves.

Pacquiao’s brainchild, aptly named the “ID Compensation Act,” aims to make procrastination profitable. The date of reckoning for this ingenious scheme is the day applicants signed and submitted their forms.

With the National ID Program kicking off in 2019, those who applied that year are now on the verge of receiving a windfall, racking up almost P1,000 in compensation and counting.

While critics argue it’s a jab at common sense, proponents commend Pacquiao for turning bureaucratic backlog into a financial jackpot.
