LOS ANGELES, California (The Adobo Chronicles ® ) – Move over Macarena. Psy, it’s time to retire your horsey dance.
All across America, people are doing the chicken dance: men, women, children, senior citizens, gay, straight — in the streets of San Francisco to the dance clubs in Miami. The dance which until recently could only be seen at wedding receptions in Indiana — has caught on quickly and rapidly, thanks to Beyonce.
Time to flap those shoulders and do the chicken dance. It’s the next craze that puts Zumba to shame!
OAKLAND, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – The Cavaliers and Warriors are tied two games apiece as they battle it out in Game 5 of the NBA Finals this Sunday at the Oakland Arena. Either team needs to win two games in the remainder of the best-of-seven series to clinch the championship title.
The Cavaliers have LeBron James. The Warriors have Manny Pacquiao.
The other lucky charm is 10-year-old Filipina Nayah Damasen who has been singing the anthem at Warriors games since she was five. Each time Damasen sings the national anthem, the Warriors win their game.
Pacquiao is known not only as a champion boxer, elected Philippine congressman, and basketball playing coach but also a recording artist. In fact, he recorded his own entrance music during his boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas last month.
Will Pacman give the Warriors their #3 win?
Stand up straight with hand on your breast for the Star-spangled Banner!
ANGELES CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – There’s a Karaoke bar in every corner of every major Philippine city, and there’s a Karaoke equipment in every mall and every home. It’s no wonder Filipinos continue to excel in the music world, both locally and abroad.
But a major Philippine city, Angeles, has waged war against Karaoke, in public and in private.
The Angeles City Council has just passed Ordinance No. 366regulating the sound levels of Karaoke equipment in an effort to contain the discomfort and disturbances caused by unregulated use of Karaoke and amplified sounds, especially in the unholy hours.
The new ordinance also lists songs than will be permanently banned from Karaoke bars and home equipment — songs that are directly linked to violence and murders in the Philippines.
The banned songs include: Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way,’ Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You,’ Idina Menzel’s ‘Let It Go,’ John Denver’s ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads,’ and Neil Diamond’s ‘Sweet Caroline.’
So the next time you go visit Angeles City, especially Karaoke bars, stay away from those songs. It’s for your own safety.
