Senator Robin Padilla Files Bill Prohibiting Out-of-tune Karaoke Singing!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – There are ordinances already in place banning karaoke singing in residential areas during prescribed window periods as part of the noise and nuisance campaign launched by local governments.

Today, Senator Robin Padilla filed a bill that will prohibit out-of-tune Karaoke singing in neighborhoods as well as in commercial videoke bars. If passed, the bill will cover the entire country.

Artists and music producers have already indicated full support for the proposal which they said is long overdue.

The bill imposes penalties of P1,000 fine for the first offense plus a mandatory 6-month jail time for repeat offenders.

Political Differences May Have Botched Apo Hiking Society Reunion

PASAY CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Pasay Bureau) – It was touted as the reunion of the decade — members of the musical group Apo Hiking Society coming together for the first time since disbanding in 2010. The reunion was to happen at a concert rally held Saturday by the Leni Robredo-Kiko Pangilinan campaign in Pasay City.

But alas, to the disappointment of fans, there was no such reunion. Jim Paredes tweeted that Danny Javier won’t be able to join him and Boboy Garovillo due to health issues.

This fueled a lot of speculation about the botched reunion.

Some netizens said Javier may not have wanted to be associated with Paredes, who became controversial after an embarrassing self sex video that went viral on the Internet.

Others noted that Javier is known to be a supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte as confirmed by no less than ABS-CBN. Duterte’s daughter Sara is running for Vice President in tandem with former Senator Bongbong Marcos.

MORAL OF THE STORY; Blood may be thicker than water, but politics is thicker than a disbanded singing group.

Is Sal Panelo On His Way To Dethrone Megastar Sharon Cuneta?

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It all started when Megastar Sharon Cuneta took to social media to complain about Senatorial candidate Sal Panelo’s singing of ”her” song, ”Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas,” at a political rally.

Unbeknownst to Cuneta, the Willy Cruz composition is a favorite of Panelo, singing it to honor his late son Carlo who was a child with special needs.

Not only did Panelo seek permission from Viva Records to sing the song, the record label has thereafter produced the candidate’s version.

The official music video of Panel’s recording has just been released by Viva. In just about 24 hours, it has garnered more than 50,000 views and 2.8K likes as of this writing.

In contrast, Cuneta’ YouTube video of one of her concerts in which she sang the same song had over 100,000 views and 1.3K views. And the Cuneta video has been up on YouTube since 2020.

Is Panelo on his way to dethroning Cuneta as the country’s megastar, and possibly a senator-megastar?

You be the judge.
