The Great Filipino Meltdown

Move over COVID, there’s a new contagion in town, and it’s spreading faster than a wildfire in a fireworks factory! It’s called “meltdown,” and the Philippines is its ground zero. Everyone’s jumping on the meltdown bandwagon, from bloggers to the media, entertainment personalities, and politicians – even a former president can’t resist the temptation to throw a good old-fashioned tantrum!

But what exactly is a meltdown, you ask? It’s a unique Filipino phenomenon where people lose their cool over the most trivial matters. Whether it’s a misplaced hairpin or a typo in a tweet, a meltdown is sure to follow. It’s like a national sport, with contestants vying for gold in the histrionic Olympics.

While it’s doubtful that this meltdown will turn into a global pandemic, it’s a grave concern for the Philippines. Could we go down in history as the original source of this melodramatic illness? Only time will tell, but in the meantime, stay tuned for the next episode of “The Great Filipino Meltdown!”

Third Runner-up Means Fourth Place

Ah, The Manila Times, the oldest of them broadsheets, headlined another booboo when it declared Philippine representative Nicole Borromeo third placer in the recently-concluded Miss International Beauty Pageant.

You see, if you win first place in a competition, you win the gold medal, the grand trophy, or in this case, the crown.

Borromeo was named 3rd runner-up, so for all intents and purposes, she ended up in fourth place.

The second runner-up was third. The first runner-up was second. The winner of the title crown, Miss Venezuela, was in first place. That wasn’t too hard, was it, MT?

Adobo Chronicles Moves Up Two Notches, Now No. 24 Among The World’s Top 100 Satire Sites!

Now we are quite convinced that there is no other way than UP! Despite our haters and detractors, including propagandist bloggers who say we are “without substance,” The Adobo Chronicles has moved up again this week — not by one notch, but two notches — among the world’s top 100 satire sites.

Just last week were at No. 26. This week, we are at No. 24.

We congratulate our AC team, Pol Pinoy, JAKE DON, Melchor Vergara, Brian Neyra, Mara Bratikova, and our in-house AI, ACAI.

But we wouldn’t get to where we are now — 10 years since our very first post — without our 28+Million viewers worldwide. We must also give credit to our critics because the more they talk (badly) about us, the more engaging we become.

Oh dear, we can’t believe we’re getting closer and closer to the world’s No. 1 satire site, The Onion, which was our inspiration (and still is) to publish The Adobo Chronicles.
