Disqualification Case Against Vice President Jejomar Binay Being Readied By Senator Francisco Tatad And Company

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The petitioners in the disqualification case against Senator Grace Poe are at it again. This time, they want Jejomar Binay disqualified from the presidential race after the Commission on Audit (COA) found the vice president liable for grave misconduct, dishonesty and gross inexcusable negiligence, graft and corrupt practices. The COA findings are in connection with the overpriced construction of the Makati City Hall parking garage during Binay’s term as mayor.

The petitioners, former senator Francisco Tatad, De La Salle University professor Antonio Contreras, former Government Service Insurance System lawyer Estrella Elamparo and former University of the East College of Law dean Amado Valdez, lost their case against Poe.  The Supreme Court ruled in Poe’s favor — by a vote of 9-6 — allowing the Senator to stay in the race for president.

This time Tatad and company want the Commission on Elections to disqualify Binay, promising to take the case to the Supreme Courty if necessary.

“We want to rebuild our reputation after that stinging loss in our case before the high court,” Tatad said.  “We are confident we will win this time.”

When asked by The Adobo Chronicles for comment on the impending disqualification petition against him, Binay just laughed it off, saying that nothing in the Philippine Constitution requires presidential candidates to be of good moral character. “Criminals can run for president as long as they are natural-born Filipino citizens, at least 40 years of age, have resided in the country for ten years before the date of election, registered voters and are able to read and write.”

Tatad’s group is also reportedly preparing a case against Mar Roxas and his wife, Korina Sanchez, for violation of election laws.  Sanchez was recently castigated for distributing Department of Agriculture (DA) checks to farmers while wearing a yellow shirt, the official color of her husband’s and the Aquino administration’s party. “That’s clearly electioneering,” Tatad said, “especially for someone who is not an employee of the DA.”

Expect the group to also start putting together a case against Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.  Stay tuned!

Philippine Supreme Court Expected Rule In Favor Of Senator Grace Poe, Thanks To Senator Bongbong Marcos

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Only one thing remains to be a hindrance to Senator Grace Poe being elected next president of the Philippines: the disqualification case against her now pending with the Supreme Court.

The case revolves around the issue of Poe not being a natural-born citizen as required of all candidates for president.  Poe, a foundling, has not established her natural-born status because the citizenship of her biological parents is unknown.  She was adopted by film actors Fernando Poe, Jr., and Susan Roces.

The Adobo Chronicles  has learned that the Supreme Court is about to issue its decision on the landmark case, and it would be in favor of Poe, thanks to vice presidential candidate, Senator Bongbong Marcos.

There is an urban legend that claims Poe is an illegitimate child of Bongbong’s father, the late Ferdinand E. Marcos with Susan’s sister, Rosemarie Sonora.

Well, Bongbong has openly acknowledged that Poe is his sister, and just recently he declared that he was “standing by” his statement. That was good enough for the Supreme Court to rule that Poe is indeed a natural-born citizen.

The big question now is, if Poe is elected president and Marcos is elected vice president, wouldn’t that constitute nepotism and a conflict of interest?

That could be the next case to be brought before the Supreme Court.

Canada To Build A Wall Along U.S.-Canada Border, Will Ask Donald Trump To Pay For It

TORONTO, Canada (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today announced that the Canadian government will soon build a wall along the U.S.-Canada border to keep out Americans  expected to flee once Donald Trump is elected president of the United States.

Today’s announcement is a dose of Trump’s own medicine.  When he launched his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, he announced that he will build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border to prevent Mexicans and others from entering the country.  Trump said that he will ask Mexico to pay for the cost of building the great wall.  Recently, he said he had just decided to make the wall 10 feet higher than his original plan.

Similary, Trudeau said that his government will bill the Trump administration for the cost of building the U.S. northern border.

As the probability of a Trump presidency becomes stronger by the day, many Americans have vowed to flee the U.S. for Canada and other countries in Europe.

The  handsome prime minister said that Americans can still enter Canada legally, with a valid visa.  However, he said only Americans from the red states will be required to secure visas.  Those from the blue states can enter Canada visa-free for a period of 90 days.
