Donald Trump Wants All Members Of The Supreme Court Impeached

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said today that the U.S. Supreme Court should be abolished because of its dismal record in protecting the rights of American citizens.

Trump issued the statement after SCOTUS refused to take up the challenge to existing laws in New York and Connecticut banning assault weapons similar to those used in mass shootings across the country, including the recent killing of 49 people at an Orlando gay bar.

The GOP candidate has always maintained that law-abiding people should be allowed to own the firearm of their choice including assault weapons, military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines. “The government has no business dictating what types of firearms good, honest people are allowed to own,” he says on his Internet campaign page.

“If I become president, I will make sure that all the members of the Supreme Court be impeached so that I can nominate justices who will help America become great again,” Trump said.

In the entire history of the United States, the only Supreme Court justice  to be impeached was Associate Justice Samuel Chase in 1805. The House of Representatives passed Articles of Impeachment against him; however, he was acquitted by the Senate.

Trump assured the National Rifle Association (NRA) and his supporters that he has the number of votes in Congress to impeach the Supremes.

“The NRA loves me and the conservative members of Congress love me, and I love them,” Trump added. ” We will work together to ensure that we uphold the rights of citizens to bear arms.”

Guinness World Record: President Aquino Renews Driver’s License In A Record 26 Minutes!

image.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippines has earned yet another Guinness World Record!

President Benigno Aquino III renewed his Philippine driver’s license last Thursday, and the entire process just took 26 minutes! It happened at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Tayuman, Manila.

In a statement issued by the presidential palace, it was revealed that Aquino “waited in line along with other license applicants.”

“This is solid proof that my anti-corruption program (Daang Matuwid) is working,” Aquino said, “and I am sure millions of Filipinos are very happy at the efficiency of all government agencies under my administration. They should thank me for it.”

Unlike the ordinary applicants at the LTO that day, however, Aquino was accompanied by LTO bosses, Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilion Abaya and newly-promoted Undersecretary Rey Marfil. Not to mention the swarm of news camera crew recording the entire 26 minutes.

Pleased by the new record set by the Philippines, Aquino immediately ordered that all employees working that day at the LTO Tayuman branch be given a 30 percent salary increase and a one-time “efficiency bonus” of P1,000 each.

It pays to be part of  “Daang Matuwid!”

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – There will be no inauguration of President-elect Rod Duterte or VP-elect Leni Robredo on June 30, thanks to the Philippines’ Commission on Elections (Comelec).

In an en banc resolution, Comelec voted 4 to 7 to extend the deadline for the filing of candidacy for the 2016 presidential elections.   The decision all but voids the results of the May elections, and paves the way for  a repeat election still to be scheduled.

Those who voted for the extension were Commissioners Rowena Guanzon, Sherrif Abas, Al Pareño and Arthur Lim.  Voting against were Chairman Andy Bautista, Luie Guia and Christan Lim.

Earlier, a separate motion by the Liberal Party was filed before Comelec seeking to extend the deadline for the filing of SOCE (Statement of Campaign Expenditures) in the May elections.  LP presidential candidate Mar Roxas and others failed to meet the June 8 deadline which is a violation of Comelec rules.  The failure to file SOCE would have disqualified the winning candidates from assuming their respective elective positions.

But rather than deal with the controversy of deciding to extend (or not extend) the SOCE filing deadline, the Comelec opted to extend the deadline for the filing of candidacy for the 2016 elections.

It’s more fun in the Philippines.
