Rodrigo Duterte’s Consistent Inconsistency

Screenshot

In the wild and wacky world of Rodrigo Duterte, consistency is as rare as a unicorn sighting in Manila traffic.

The man’s ability to flip-flop faster than a fish out of water would make even the most seasoned politicians dizzy.

One moment he’s accusing Marcos of being a drug-addled menace, the next he’s cozying up to him like long-lost amigos at a karaoke bar. And let’s not forget his dance with the International Criminal Court (ICC), where he ping-pongs between bravado and panic (if we were to believe his former spokesperson) faster than you can say “extrajudicial.” It’s like watching a soap opera where the plot twists are as predictable as a typhoon in the Philippines.

Duterte’s inconsistency is so consistent, it’s practically become his trademark.

Perhaps we should commend him for his dedication to keeping us on our toes, or maybe we should just invest in some motion sickness pills for the rollercoaster ride that is he subjects us to. Either way, one thing’s for sure: with Duterte, the only thing you can count on is that you can’t count on anything.

Dateline Zürich: The Shadow Of Rodrigo Duterte

by Maria Bratikova

You may cast a long shadow, a medium-sized one, a short one, an almost-not-there one. But it’ll be there. It all depends on the angle of the source of light with reference to your position.

Let‘s take the sun and you as constants.Time is an illusion. Your shadow is not. On a sunny day, whatever angular form you get  in your relationship with the sun as the earth moves stays with you. You cannot separate from it, you cannot outrun it. Your shadow sticks to you and vice versa. And that fact is a constant whatever you are doing, thinking, planning at any given angle. You cannot trick it, for as long as there is light there‘s your shadow.

So now we have a former President who cast a shadow that makes him stressing over a possible arrest. Why is that?

If one has nothing to worry about one’s own actions, statements, movements – there’d be no reason to disengage from that shadow. In fact, you‘d have to worry if your shadow does not show when light conquers the dark.

Tomorrow, the earth will take a new turn and reveal the sun early on. The game will continue. . .

Oh God.

George Burns sighed to himself. “What mistake did I make on earth?”

A Warrantless Arrest For Rodrigo Duterte!

In a dazzling display of irony, a circus of speculation surrounds the impending arrest of Rodrigo Duterte by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The orchestrators? None other than the dubious duo of Harry Roque and Mark Lopez, supported by media giants like the Inquirer and GMA News. Their source? The ever-reliable Antonio Trillanes and Duterte himself, of course. One wonders if they stumbled upon an embargoed ICC press release or just had a fortuitous chat with Lady Justice over tea.

It’s a marvel how these clairvoyants possess exclusive insights into the ICC’s inner workings. Perhaps they’re testing the waters of public opinion or aiming for a sympathy surge by playing the victim card.

But let’s not forget the punchline: even if a warrant materializes, enforcing it within the Philippines is a wholly different saga. It’s a plot twist straight out of a political farce, with characters juggling half-truths like flaming batons.

Welcome to the theater of the absurd, where credibility takes a backseat and the truth is a mere footnote in the spectacle.
