THE HAGUE, Netherlands (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – Rappler’s Lian Buan recently tweeted about her meeting an ICC (International Criminal Court) judge where she discussed about Rodrigo Duterte and his war on drugs. From one journalist to another, we feel compelled to give Buan some important, unsolicited advice.
1. Aren’t you on sabbatical? So technically, you are not a “journalist” at the moment.
2. You do not discuss matters under court investigation.
3. Don’t play “witness “ unless summoned by the court or the prosecutorial team.
4. It’s a no-no to discuss sensitive court or political matters over wine or cocktails.
5. You said what you did is what journalists do. NO Lian, what you did was snitch on Duterte, like a child snitching on her dad.
6. We understand your loyalty to your lying boss at Rappler, but you are no Maria Ressa. Or maybe you are.
7. It is very unlikely that you, too, will be awarded a Nobel Prize for your lies. So wake up. Better still, make your sabbatical permanent.
THE HAGUE, Netherlands (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – Once a Rapplerette, always a Rapplerette. Or better still, like Maria Ressa, like Lian Buan.
Buan, who is on sabbatical, boasted of her recent meeting with ICC judge Solomy Balungi Bossa where she provided the latter with imagined news about the Philippines, particularly during the past Duterte administration.
As if what she says matters, Buan emulated her boss Ressa who made it to the Nobel Prize through her lies.
Moreover, Buan seemed to forget that what she says over wine and cocktails doesn’t hold in the court of law.
Is a declaration of being a persona non grata awaiting Buan’s return to the Philippines?
TORONTO, Canada (The Adobo Chronicles, Toronto Bureau) – Filipino TNTs, or Tago ng Tago (always hiding from Immigration) in America will now be able to visit Canada visa-free!
This was announced today by the Canadian government as part of its overall campaign to promote tourism in the country. The new policy was inspired by the new Philippine branding “We Give the World Our Best” which was first launched in the United Kingdom, featuring the Filipina nurse who was the first to administer the Covid-19 vaccine.
“We definitely want our share of the best,” Canada’s foreign minister told The Adobo Chronicles.
The only requirement is for potential Filipino travelers to have a Philippine passport that’s valid for at least 10 years plus a Visa, Mastercard or American Express credit card that has an available credit limit of $20,000.
The credit card requirement will be waved for Filipino Registered Nurses.
