Tens Of Thousands Of Undocumented Filipino Immigrants In U.S. Apply For Politcal Asylum

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Encouraged by a recent Immigration  Court decision granting political asylum to a Filipino couple  who arrived in the U.S. in 2000 to go sight-seeing, tens of thousands of Filipino TNTs (Tago Ng Tago — hiding from Immigrantion authorities), have filed asylum petitions with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigrtion Services (USCIS),

The couple claimed that returning to the Phlippines will subject them to political persecution by the Duterte Administration which they are critical of.

The Adobo Chronicles visited the USCIS offices on Samsome Street in San Francsco to verify the reports.  Immigration officials confirmed that today alone, they have receivecd 66,666 applicants for political asylum by Filipinos who have pending deportation orders.

We wish the Filipinos the best of luck in their petitions.  After all, there has been a precedent.   The odds of success are great!

Trillanes, Bautista, Laurio Will Apply For Political Asylum In The U.S. !

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – An immigration judge granted reprieve from deportation to a Filipino couple in San Francisco Bay Area, in the first successful political asylum case seeking sanctuary from the administration of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.

San Francisco Immigration Judge Ila Deiss issued separate but similar decisions on December 3 granting asylum to Philippine-born husband and wife Rene and Joy Flores for fear of political persecution if they are sent back to the Philippines.

According to a news story by The Inquirer, the couple arrived in the United States in the year 2000 “to go sight-seeing.” (That’s 16 years before Duterte even became President).

Encouraged by this exciting development, Senator Antonio Trillanes, former Comelec Chair Andy Bautista (who is reportedly “hiding” in the United States), and Pinoy Ako Blog’s Jover Laurio are thinking of also applying for political asylum on the grounds of “political persecution” by the Duterte Administration.

Rappler CEO Maria Ressa also considered applying for politcal asylum until her lawyer reminded her that wasn’t necessary since she is already a U.S. citizen.

This landmark case is expected to result in a deluge of political asylum cases filed in U.S. Immigration courts, involving Filipinos who will claim persecution by the Duterte government.

Melania Trump Is Main Speaker At One Million Women March Vs. Racism

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – A One Million Women March is being planned in Washington, D.C. this weekend, with First Lady Melania Trump as main speaker.

The march is being organized by a coalition of  national and state women’s groups in protest of Donald Trump’s racism.

Trump has been publicly attacking four women-of-color Members of Congress, chiding them to “go back to where they came from.”   A recent Trump rally saw members of his audience chanting “Send her back!”

Of the four lawmakers, all are U.S. citizens and only one was born outside of the United States.

Melania, who hails from Slovenia, became a U.S. citizen in 2006, after marrying The Donald.  She is expected to condemn her husband’s racist remarks.

Will Donald also send Melania back to where she came from?
