WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Unknown to many, former U.S. President Barack Obama has filed an oral defamation lawsuit in a Virginia District Court against Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.

Obama is suing Duterte for the latter’s very public cussing several years ago against the then incumbent American President. He called Obama ‘Son-of-a-b*tch.’ (In Tagalog, ‘P*tang ina mo.’)

Lawyers for Duterte however challenged Obama’s claim and presented just one star witness: Google Translate.

The lawyers presented Exhibit A showing that according to Google Translate, ‘P*tang ina mo’ literally translates into ‘Put your mother.’ “So what’s defaming about that,” they asked the judge.

The judged agreed and lawyers for Obama immediately dropped their case.

All’s well that ends well.

Senator Bam Aquino Introduces Amendment To Proposed Death Penalty Bill

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Opposition Senator Bam Aquino has made it crystal clear that he was against the reimposition of capital punishment in the Philippines.

Pro- death penalty legislators, however, have been trying to find a compromise with Aquino in order to move forward with the stalled Bill. Well, they finally got what they wanted.

Aquino has just filed an amendment to the proposed Death Penalty Bill by adding a provision that should capital punishment be reinstated in the country, execution should be in the form of an electric chair.

Not just any electrict chair, but a yellow-painted electric chair just like Alabaman’s  famed ‘Yellow Mama.’

Yellow Mama is the nickname given to Alabama’s electric chair, which was used for executions from 1927–2002.

First installed at Kilby State Prison in Montgomery, Alabama, the chair acquired its yellow color when painted using highway-line paint from the adjacent State Highway Department lab.[1] The chair was built by a British inmate in 1927 and was first used to execute Horace DeVauhan that same year.

Senator Hontiveros Proposes Bill To Create Communist Human Rights Commission

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Senator Risa Hontiveros is fast gaining the reputation as a fierce fighter for all human rights.  ‘All’ meaning the rights of law-abiding citizens, criminals, terrorists, and yes, even communists.

Soon after Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Chair Chito Gascon said that his agency will be monitoring developments in connection with President Duterte’s announcement terminating peace talks with the Communist Party of the Philippines and New Peoples’ Army, Hontiveros went right to work.

The lady Senator filed a bill that creates the Communist Human Rights Commission (CHRC) that will work to ensure that the rights of Communists and other groups out to destabilize the government will be fully protected.

As proposed by Hontiveros, the CHRC will be independent of CHR.  They will be co-equal Commissions with their own respective budgets, staff and resources.
