Philippine Catholic Churches Shifting To Chinese Flakes For Holy Communion

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – More and more Filipinos are shying away from personally attending Sunday masses and receiving Holy Communion, something that greatly bothers the Philippine Catholic Church.

The situation may be the result of Catholics disappointed over the Church’s increasing involvement in civilian politics, exacerbated by the Covid pandemic which prompted many to hear mass online.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is not taking this sitting down.

Beginning on the first Sunday in May, Catholic churches will do away with the usual white wheat host for Holy Communion and replacing it with that popular Chinese red flakes, Haw Haw. It resembles the round host, but is reddish in color and delightfully sweet.

CBCP hopes that this will inspire and encourage Catholics to attend mass in person rather than online.

Donald Trump Can’t Take The Heat In Manila!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Ex-US President Donald Trump can’t take the heat from his indictment in New York, so he took some time off to visit the Trump Towers in Manila’s Century City.

But alas, the heat in Manila was equally unbearable, with temperatures reaching the 90’s (that’s Fahrenheit) .

So the Donald left his suite in Makati to get some cool relief with a glass of halo-halo (Filipino shaved ice snack) in Divisoria, Manila’s bargain center for everything — from clothes to houseware to plants to food.

He was spotted wearing a white sleeveless t-shirt, a far cry from his usual full regalia of coat and tie.

He may have been trying to be incognito, but his blonde hair gave it all away.

Filipinos: Copycats Or Great Entrepreneurs?

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Be always weary of the competition, especially when you’re in the Philippines.

Filipinos are known worldwide as copycats, er, entrepreneurs. They can turn tragedies into fortunes, and competition into advantage.

It is widely known that the American company McDonald’s always beats the competition, except the fat, stupid, happy bee, Jollibee.

Now, a Filipino businessman has found a way to challenge another giant American food chain, KFC which recently re-launched its “Double Down” chicken burger — all meat and no bun.

The local company called KepC just unveiled its answer to KFC’s Double Down: the all-bun, no meat burger!

It’s going to be a sure hit among dieters and vegetarians. Way to go, KepC!
