Philippines: Bibingka Makers Join In PRIDE Month Celebration!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In general, Filipinos are supportive, or tolerant of LGBTs. Their hairdressers, manicurists, wardrobe designers and even their favorite television hosts belong to this colorful community.

This PRIDE Month, even makers of bibinka, that popular Filipino rice cake traditionally cooked in a terracotta oven lined with banana leaves and topped with cheese and coconut, are joining in the fun!

For the entire month of June, bibinka makers will rename their product “badingka,” a word play on “bading” which means gay, and bibinka.

Even franchise owners of Bibingkinitan, mall shops that sell a tinier version of the favorite delicacy, have also said they will sell their goods as “Badingkinitan.”

Happy Pride y’al!

2.45% Of Filipinos Will Be Left Behind In President Marcos’ Rice Sufficiency Program!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It is very rare to see government programs achieve a 100% success rate. Even the administration of Philippine President Bongbong Marcos realizes that.

Marcos recently announced the Philippines will achieve 97.55% rice sufficiency in five years. That means 2.45% of Filipinos will still go hungry, at least as far as the national staple of the country is concerned.

But look to the good side. The 2.5% insufficiency will leave some room for private traders engaged in rice importation to keep their business alive. It will also make the job of the next president easier — minus 2.5% is not that far off from 100%

In an obscure neighborhood in Metro Manila, customers are lining up to have some tea at the ChaiGPT.

The new establishment offers a variety of teas from all over the world. Confused customers will have a difficult time choosing which one to order.

No problem.

Upon entering the tea house, customers just need to look into an installed standing camera by the door and AI reads their minds and preferences. In just seconds, AI determines and decides the kind of tea that best suits the customers’ tastes, mood and personality. No waiting!
