Jollibee To Go Fully-Automated, Tens Of Thousands Stand To Lose Jobs!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The business competition between America’s McDonald’s and the Philippines’ Jollibee continues unabated.

McDonald’s has acknowledged that its the world’s No. 1 fast food chain, except in the Philippines where it can’t beat that “fat, stupid, happy bee.”

Early this year, McDonald’s opened its very first fully-automated location in Settlement, Texas, where there are no employees — just machines, robots, and an interactive system for ordering from the menu.

Well, Jollibee won’t be beaten by that red-haired clown.

Today, the popular Filipino fast food chain said that by the year 2025, all of its outlets in the Philippines and abroad will be fully automated, and that all of its employees will be terminated and given a separation pay.

Those skilled and qualified will be offered position as ITs, computer programmers and online customer service representatives.

So here’s an unsolicited advice to all Jollibee employees. Enroll in computer classes and be certified by TESDA!

Senator Risa Hontiveros Poses As Indigent Citizen To Get DSWD Relief Goods!

MACABEBE, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Macabebe Bureau) – Philippine Senators are known to benefit from pork barrel projects intended for their constituencies, but Senator Risa Hontiveros chose to go with just a little assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Hontiveros posed as an indigent private citizen and lined up together with those affected by the recent typhoon Egay to get a box of relief goods.

Those in line who recognized her were appalled that she’d even think of depriving other more deserving indigents for some grocery items which she could very well afford.

We caught up with Hontiveros as she was loading the relief box into her Mercedes Benz and asked her why she did what she did.

“Oh, it’s all a misunderstanding,” she said. “This relief box is for my kasambahay (house help), not for me!”

Even, then does this mean she cannot even provide basic necessities for her house help?

Senator Cynthia Villar Files Bill Banning ‘Unli Rice!’

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Senator Cynthia Villar is taking her chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food very seriously. The committee is close to her heart as it can impact her real estate and subdivision business.

Today, Villar filed a bill permanently banning ‘unli rice’ offered by many Philippine restaurants like Mang Inasal and Adobo Connection.

Villar’s move comes after the National Food Authority announced its rice buffer stock will only last for two days.

President Bongbong Marcos has also expressed concern about the country’s rice supply situation and has hinted about more rice importation in the near future.

In her bill, Villar said: “Imagine how much rice the country can save if we banned restaurants from serving unli rice in their establishments. It could spell the difference between rice sufficiency and rice shortage.”

The senator added that her bill would also help improve the health status of all Filipinos and prevent more cases of diabetes, high cholesterol and obesity.
