MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It was just this past September when Vice President Leni Robredo chided the Duterte government, saying that it can no longer continue to downplay the country’s inflation rate.
Well, reacting to February 2019’s inflation rate report, Robredo who, just last year, was guest speaker at a forum at the London School of Economics, expressed deep concern at the continued decline of the Philippines’ inflation rate — from 5.1% in December of 2018 to 4.4% in January and 3.8% in February this year.
”Lubos na nakakabahala,” (It’s very concerning) she told The Adobo Chronicles. “It’s about time Duterte and his economic managers do something to prevent a further decline in our country’s inflation rate.”
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Senatorial bets are urging NoyNoy Aquino to now fulfill his promise when he was still President that he would let himself be run over by an MRT train.
The candidates issued the call during a televised debate after they blamed the country’s rise in inflation on the TRAIN law.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – During ABS-CBN’s “Harapan 2019” senatorial town hall debates, Senatorial wanna-bes were asked what they can do to address inflation.
Opposition candidates were unanimous in saying that the TRAIN law had a lot to do with the rise of inflation rate in the country and must be repealed.
Former Presidential candidate Mar Roxas said that the Metropolitan Railway Transit (MRT) could only be blamed for the rise in inflation. “We need to de-activate the TRAINs if we want to reduce the inflation rate in our country,” he told The Adobo Chronicles.
