Extra-Marital Affairs Down Significantly In March — Survey

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A survey just released by Pubicus, International (P.I.) showed that reports of Filipino extra-marital affairs dropped significantly in March this year.

The survey, conducted during the last week of March coincided with Fire Prevention Month in the Philippines. It showed the numbers reduced to 3 per 100,000 population, compared to the previous month’s 33 per 100,000 population.

Researchers at P.I. attributed the low numbers to the highly effective fire prevention campaign of the current administration.

One particular public service announcement released through news and social media and via giant billboards said “Ngayong Buwan ng Marso — Huwag maglaro ng apoy!”

Maglaro ng apoy” (play with fire ) is part of a Filipino dictum that refers to people engaging in extra-marital affairs.

Philippine Senators Reject Cha Cha, Opt For Rigodon!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The fate of Cha Cha in the Philippine Senate is grim, to say the least, as majority of sitting Senators are going for Rigodon instead.

Cha Cha is, of course, the proposed charter change which the House of Representatives overwhelming supports but is doomed without Senate approval. It is also a well-loved dance that has survived many generations and is a favorite in many a ballroom dancing.

Rigodon (de Honor) is a Filipino indigenous dance where participants constantly change partners — just like Senators who keep changing their minds, their affiliations, their stance on the issue of amending the 1987 Constitution.

In the Rigodon dance, participants also march back and forth and go in circles, just like what members of the Upper Chamber are known for.

So dear readers, which dance do you prefer? Cha Cha or Rigodon?

Honolulu Makes Philippine VP Aspirant Lito Atienza Honorary Mayor

HONOLULU, Hawaii (The Adobo Chronicles, Honolulu Bureau) – House Deputy Speaker and former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza has been adopted by the City and County of Honolulu as its honorary mayor.

Atienza is vying for the position of Vice President in the May 2022 elections under Senator Manny Pacquiao’s party. Pacquiao is running for President.

The Adobo Chronicles learned that Honolulu is making this move in line with the sister city relationship between the Hawaiian city and Manila.

Honolulu has about 30 sister cities across the globe.

Asked why Honolulu didn’t pick incumbent mayor Isko Moreno as its honorary mayor, a spokesperson said that Atienza was chosen because of being a poster boy for the Aloha shirt. The VP aspirant has made the Hawaiian shirt his signature attire.

”We appreciate his ongoing promotion of Hawaii,” the spokesperson said.
