SM Baguio Is The Most Climate-Friendly Mall In All Of Asia!

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Baguio City Bureau) – The SM Mall in Baguio City, Philippines may not be the largest in the Philippines but it has the distinction of being the most climate-friendly in all of Asia, and perhaps the entire world.

It boasts of an in-mall swimming pool which collects water from the rain. The heavier the rain, the deeper the pool becomes.

The Adobo Chronicles team shot this video on Sunday as moderate rain began to fill the pool located at the mall’s first-floor rotunda, to the delight of shoppers and vendors alike.

Millions Worldwide Lose Their Twitter Accounts!

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chroniclers, California Bureau) – Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco was deluged with calls and messages on Saturday following the sudden disappearance of the Twitter app from millions of smartphones and computers worldwide.

Many netizens in the Philippines told The Adobo Chronicles that it was only Friday night when the Twitter icon — the blue humming bird — was visible in their gadgets. Then that icon suddenly disappeared Saturday, replaced by a suspicious black “X.”

It wasn’t clear whether this was a glitch on the part of Twitter or a case of hacking by unscrupulous elements.

We have yet to hear from Twitter owner Elon Musk who has not returned our calls.

Cultural Misappropriation: Adobo Chronicles Responds To ADMU History Professor Ambeth Ocampo

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In his column, “Looking Back,” published the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Ambeth Ocampo, history professor at the Ateneo de Manila University, described Senator Imee Marcos’ Cordilleran attire at the last SONA as “cultural (mis)appropriation.”

He says Marcos’ attire constitutes “inappropriate adoption of the customs, practices, ideas, etc. of one people or society by members of another and typically more dominant people or society.”

We wish to inform Mr. Ocampo that Marcos’ attire was a gift from a Cordilleran. She proudly wore it at the SONA and we see no cultural appropriation in that.

But let’s give it to the honorable historian with the caveat that he should also say the same about Leni Robredo who appropriated other cultures and other persona — including Sadouken, Karate Masters, Miss Universe and even a Japanese Samurai.

Or did Mr. Ocampo just blur recent history?
