Back To School For Representative France Castro

In the circus of political grandstanding, Representative France Castro takes center stage, wielding a vocabulary that seems to have skipped a few chapters.

With Vice President Sara Duterte gracefully stepping back from the controversial confidential funds, citing a commitment to unity, Castro appears determined to prove that the art of political acrobatics isn’t dead. Ignoring the concept of “moot and academic,” Castro now directs her attention to the 2022 confidential funds, demanding an explanation as if the term itself eludes her grasp.

Perhaps a crash course in basic vocabulary would serve Castro well, with “confidential” being a good place to start. It’s almost endearing how she insists on unraveling the mysteries of funds explicitly labeled as confidential. One wonders if she also demands a magic show explanation for disappearing rabbits. As the political drama unfolds, one can’t help but appreciate the unintentional comedy provided by those struggling with the intricacies of words they throw around so carelessly.

(CR)Edible Bloggers?

In the perplexing maze of information, Filipinos find themselves in a trust crisis, torn between traditional news outlets and the once-innocent charm of social media influencers turned spin doctors.

The irony is as glaring as a poorly filtered selfie – what used to be a refuge from media manipulation, social media now mirrors the same disarray. The lines between reliable journalism and sensationalist blogging blur faster than a disappearing Snapchat story.

Gone are the days when one could confidently discern truth from fiction. Now, navigating the news landscape is like tiptoeing through a political minefield where bloggers, like ambitious chameleons, change colors faster than a trending hashtag. The Rapplers and Pinoy Ako Blogs of yesteryears seem indistinguishable from influencers peddling political opinions for a retweet.

It’s a carnival of credibility, where the ringmasters are as elusive as a politician’s promises, leaving Filipinos to wonder if the news cycle is just a never-ending loop of deceit and self-serving narratives.

Credible is no longer edible.

Unli Rice Vs. Half-Cup Rice

In a stroke of legislative genius, the Department of Agriculture is pushing for a bill that would require food establishments to offer half-cups of rice. Because nothing says “effective policy” like a throwback to the glorious era of rice rationing during the late, great Marcos administration.

Forget tackling the root of the issue, the Department of Agriculture has identified but ignores the real threat to the nation: unlimited rice servings enticing Pinoys into restaurants. Apparently, they’ve missed the memo that not everyone wants to carb-load like they’re training for a marathon.

While some Pinoys diligently watch their glycemic index, the real heroes are the establishments encouraging rice binges. Why focus on the potential for obesity and diabetes when there’s the urgent matter of ensuring everyone gets just the right amount of rice, no more, no less?

It’s comforting to know that in the grand hierarchy of national concerns, the rice cup size is a top priority. Because who needs sensible solutions when you can legislate rice portion control?
