Defeated Senatorial Candidate Alma Moreno’s Proposal For Next Philippine Elections

Moreno

PARAÑAQUE CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – She ran for senator under the party of Vice President Jejomar Binay in last Monday’s Philippine elections, but lost.

Her name is Alma Moreno, city councilor for one of the cities of Metro Manila.  She was a former film actress. Her sexy dancing during the campaign rallies didn’t quite do it for her.

imageIn conceding her defeat, Moreno had a unique suggestion to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to make the electoral process more fair, efficient and inexpensive.  She said the winning candidates should just be picked through a raffle drawing.

On her Twitter page, she said: “@COMELEC, sana sa next election bunutan na lang”

In the meantime, The Adobo Chronicles can confirm that Moreno is not currently pregnant as reported in social media. The rumor came about after Moreno posted her concession message on her Twitter account. (As of presstime, her Twitter account seems to have been suspended.)

IDIOTORIAL: The Media Got It All Wrong About Trump and Duterte

The Philippines’ Rodrigo Duterte and America’s Donald Trump. The media have put them both in the same category: rogue candidates.

Trump is the presumptive Republican presidential nominee while Duterte could be elected president of the Philippines in a matter of hours.

Both unconventional when faced by questions from the media.  Both have shocked the electorate with their kind of politics and campaign rhetoric.

Because of the pararellism between the two candidates, the media have labeled Duterte as the Donald Trump of the Philippines.

We think the media are wrong in their analysis.  It is the other way around: Trump is the Rodrigo Duterte of America.

The only difference: Duterte is genuine; Trump is fake.

We urge the media to refrain from using their flawed comparison and give Duterte his due.

Donald Trump Woos The Filipino American Vote

image.jpegNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Realizing that in order to win in the general elections, presumptive Republican presidential nominee is leaving no stone unturned to reach out to all possible voting blocs, including the Filipino Americans.

Filipino Americans have traditionally been socially conservative. In the 2004 U.S. Presidential elections, Republican president George W. Bush won the Filipino American vote over John Kerry by nearly a two-to-one ratio,  which followed strong support in the 2000 election. However, in 2008, Filipino Americans voted majority Democratic, with 50% to 58% of the community voting for President Barack Obama and 42% to 46% voting for Senator John McCain. The 2008 election marked the first time that a majority of Filipino Americans voted for a Democrat presidential candidate.

Naturally, Trump wants to win back the Filipino American vote.

Today, he posted a selfie taken at the penthouse suite of the Trump Towers in New York.  In his photo, he is shown gobbling down a bowl of dinuguan, a traditional Filipino dish made of pork and pork blood. In his comment, he said, “I love dinuguan. I love Filipinos, and Filipinos love me!”

When asked by his wife Melania what he was eating, Trump said, “chocolate soup.”
