Black Actress Issa Rae Apologizes To Filipino Men

75F6F01E-66F8-43C4-A17F-A4E6A7ED3E74HOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles, Los Angeles Bureau) – Black actress Issa Rae is in hot water after excerpts of her not-too-new book surfaced on social media.

Rae wrote in her book that  Filipinos are the Blacks of Asians,  encouraging Black women to  date Asian men, but not Filipinos.

In an exclusive interview with The Adobo Chronicles, Rae said that it wasn’t her intention to demean Filipino men.

“In fact, what I wanted to say was that Filipinos can compare with Blacks in as far as  size is concerned.”

Being a family-oriented site, The Adobo Chronicles is refusing to further interpret Rae’s statement about size.

Labor Day Protesters: We Were Just Kidding About Ending ENDO

C1FD4E56-F536-4F57-B0E1-DD46DBD71FF4.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – What could be a better day to protest against Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte for what some are calling his failure to fulfill a campaign promise to end ENDO — the contractualization of workers — than May 1, Labor Day.

So, armed with bright-colored placards demanding that Duterte end ENDO, protesters marched in the the streets near Malacañang — all 5,000 or so of them.

But when Duterte announced that he has signed an Executive Order ending ENDO, the protesters said, “We were kidding.  We just wanted something to protest about.”

End of the ENDO story.

Duterte Closes University Of The Philippines For Rehabilitation

0B006A6E-4F4A-4E56-985F-77DC47065F87QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Now that the closure of Boracay Beach Resort has come and rehabilitation has begun, Philippine President Rodrigo Dutete has focused his attention on the University of the Philippines, the state-funded learning institution.

Duterte issued Executive Order No. 69, ordering the immediate closure of the Diliman and other campuses of U.P.

The order states that U.P. will be closed for two semesters and will reopen upon completition of a total overhaul of the U.P system.

”We owe it to the Filipino taxpayers to have a state-funded learning institution that can produce responsible, law-abiding citizens and productive members of our society,” Duterte told The Adobo Chronicles.

U.P. has recently caught the ire of the President as well as ordinary Filipino citizens for the students’ participation in walk-outs, protests and rallies, putting to waste hard-earned taxpayer money.

The news comes as a big disappointment to students who recently passed the U.P. College Admission Test (UPCAT).  Now they will have to ask their parents for financial assistance so they could instead attend Ateneo or De La Salle.
