Time To Terminate Congress Hearings On WOD

Is it time for Congress to end the hearings on the war on drugs? Absolutely! After all, we’ve already reached the pinnacle of entertainment and confusion by inviting Rodrigo Duterte as the ultimate witness. What more could our legislators possibly need? They’ve been served a buffet of contradictions: one moment, Duterte defends his campaign; the next, he downplays its atrocities or denies involvement altogether. It’s like binge-watching a political telenovela with a script that rewrites itself every episode.

But let’s not be too harsh. Perhaps our legislators enjoy the ride. Who needs clear answers when you have verbal acrobatics to marvel at? Who cares about justice when drama steals the show? Unfortunately, the public — who deserve accountability — is left bewildered, watching a circus where the ringmaster keeps changing the rules. A backtracker may be a great performer, but as a witness? Congress might as well interrogate a weathervane.

Rodrigo Duterte Speaks From Either Side Of His Mouth

Rodrigo Duterte, the Philippines’ unapologetic political firebrand, has outdone himself in his latest theatrical performance.

On one side of his mouth, he declares an unshakable faith in the Philippine judicial system, professing his preference to face justice on home soil—a touching display of patriotism, if not for the irony. On the other side, he dares the International Criminal Court to “bring it on,” swaggering like a man auditioning for a James Bond villain role. Is it hubris, or just another Duterte quip designed to keep his critics dizzy?

His duality leaves us in awe. Is he a staunch nationalist unwilling to bow to international scrutiny, or is he the ultimate showman, knowing full well the ICC doesn’t operate on a dare system? Either way, his gambit guarantees one thing: Duterte remains the headline king. Whether justice is served in Manila or The Hague, the spectacle is far from over.
