MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – President Bongbong Marcos has ordered a re-mapping of the Philippines as he lamented the fact that the waters lining the islands have disappeared due to reclamation projects.
Traditionally, the Philippines is known to be an archipelago of 7,107 islands covering 300,000 square kilometers (30 million hectares) — 298,170 square kilometersof land and 1,830 square kilometers of water.
Marcos said the Philippine landscape may have significantly changed and that land has increased while water has decreased.
In the interest of truth and transparency and in order to accurately protect the country’s sovereignty, the President ordered the re-mapping of the Philippines to reflect the rise of land and the fall of water.
SOUTH CHINA SEA (The Adobo Chronicles, Aquatic Bureau) – Emotions ran high after the Philippine Coast Guard released a video of the Chinese Coast Guard firing a water cannon at a Philippine supply boat in the South China Sea.
Philippine Senators immediately condemned the incident and proposed sanctions against China, including banning China state-owned businesses in the Philippines and lodging a formal complaint with the United Nations.
But a video from a different angle tells a different story. The CCG didn’t hit anywhere near the ship’s deck. It sprayed on the water!
Will the senators now temper their emotions and go easy on China?
Moral of the story: there’s always two angles to a news video!
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The lone opposition voice in the Philippine Senate says the country should ban all Chinese state-owned companies and subsidiaries operating in the Philippines. That includes the 40 percent Chinese stake in the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines which supplies electric power in the country.
Senator Risa Hontiveros made the suggestion following the water cannon incident in the South China Sea involving the Chinese and Philippine Coast Guards.
But Hontiveros takes her idea up one notch. She wants all Filipinos to discard and give up all their Apple gadgets as a form of public protest over the South China Sea incident.
But why Apple?
Well, more than 95% of iPhones, AirPods, Macs and iPads are made in China.
