UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES, Quezon City (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – The January 6, 2021 storming of the United States Capitol by a mob of supporters of Republican Pres. Donald J. Trump, had a reprise — in the Philippines!
This time, it was an attack on the University of the Philippines Diliman campus by, well, U.P. students — the Iskolar ng Bayan (state scholars).
The tax-funded students stormed the campus’ Quezon Hall to demand that the Board of Regents explain their vote and choose law dean Edgardo Vistan as the next Chancellor.
But the netizen reactions are in: the U.P. students are being called “second-rate, trying hard copycats.” A la Cherie Gil’s iconic film scene.
