MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Bad publicity is still publicity, so Senator Robin Padilla is jumping on the bandwagon in the investigation of the Philippines’ war on drugs by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Recently, the Appeals Chamber rejected the Philippines’ petition for the ICC to stop the resumption of its investigation of former President Rodrigo Duterte and others.
No matter that the PH government already withdrew its membership from the ICC and President Bongbong Marcos has already announced the country’s disengagement from the court. Padilla wants the spotlight to turn on him.
Padilla challenged the ICC to investigate and arrest him for his support of the war on drugs, adding that he is used to being incarcerated.
Of course, being incarcerated abroad is a bonus for the top vote-getter in the last senatorial elections.
The Adobo Chronicles caught up with Padilla while was shopping at Robinson’s Supermarket in Quezon City and we asked him how the ICC can proceed with the investigation when the PH government already said prosecutors will not be allowed to enter the country.
Padilla’s response: “Ako mismo ang pupunta sa Hague”(I will travel to Hague myself).
