MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Vice President Leni Robredo was doing quite well gaining sectoral support for her 2022 presidential bid — from ”Doctors for Leni” to ”Laylayan for Leni” until she made huge hiccup in one of her public statements on typhoon Odette.
In her statement, she complained that flood victims who needed to be rescued could not be reached by police and government teams because the electric current was so strong.
The “Electricians for Leni,” composed of a coalition of Filipino electricians withdrew their earlier support for her candidacy, citing Robredo’s lack of understanding of their profession and hard work.
“How can we support a Presidential candidate who cannot even tell the difference between electric current and water current,” the group’s spokesperson told The Adobo Chronicles.
Moral of the story: if you don’t need to speak out, don’t!
In the past Robredo has been credited with booboos while speaking in her radio program or talking to reporters. Filipinos will surely remember her reference to ”zero defecation” by saying ”defacation, ” or her historical revision of World War II, happening in 1947. And who could forget her mathematical equation of 40 x 4 = 1,600!
