1Sambayan Announces Its Choice Candidates For Vice President, No Presidential Candidate!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The political opposition coalition known as 1Sambayan took the occasion of Philippine Independence Day, June 12, to announce its field of potential candidates in the coming 2022 national elections.

To everyone’s surprise, it did not announce any Presidential candidates, only 6 candidates for Vice President: Leni Robredo, Antonio Trillanes, Grace Poe, Eduardo Villanueva, Chel Diokno and Vilma Santos-Recto.

Political analysts said the announcement of VP candidates but no Presidential bets is an admission that the Presidency is a lost cause, considering the powerhouse line-up of the Administration that includes Sara Duterte and Bongbong Marcos.

It is not known whether Robredo will accept a Vice Presidential candidate nomination. The Philippine VP is elected to a 6-year term but is allowed to run for reelection once.

Meanwhile, 1Sambayan also unveiled what they called the “new Philippine National Anthem” composed by Ryan Cayabyab. It’s titled “O Bayan Ko.” It was played at the start of today’s event.
