Hollywood Actor Jackie Chan Named China’s Ambassador To The Philippines

BEIJING, China (The Adobo Chronicles, Hong Kong Bureau) -Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced the appointment of Jackie Chan as his country’s new Ambassador to the Philippines.

The announcement came as Rodrigo Duterte visited China for bilateral talks with Xi Jinping.

The Hong Kong-born Hollywood actor presented his credentials to Duterte and Senator Bong Go. Afterwards, the threesome posed for the cameras with the infamous Duterte fist.

In appointing Chan, the Beijing government said it needed to designate someone who could ease growing tensions between China and the Philippines over the terrotorial dispute in the West Philippine Sea.

For his part,  Duterte said that Chan is well-loved by the Filipinos — regardless of political affiliation — so having him as Ambassador will lessen the animosity towards China, especially among Duterte’s critics.

Senator Grace Poe Unveils EDSA Elevated Walkways Proposal To Solve Traffic Problem

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Expressing deep frustration that no one has ever come up with a permanent solution to the EDSA traffic nightmare, Senator Grace Poe who chairs the Senate Committee on Public Services, has unveiled her sure-fire proposal that would put technocrats to shame.

Today, Poe unveiled her proposal to construct walkways along the entire stretch of EDSA to lessen commuters’ dependence on buses, jeepneys and private cars while encouraging them to live healthy lives.

Poe’s master plan is to construct elevated, covered and airconditioned walkways, complete with travellators similar to what travelers use in airports around the world.

How could anyone object to this brilliant proposal —other than Vice President Leni Robredo whose transportation of choice is the provincial bus which could soon be banned from EDSA?

MMDA Supports Senator Grace Poe’s Solution To EDSA Traffic

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Senator Grace Poe says that granting President Rodrigo Duterte emergency powers is not the solution to the crippling daily traffic gridlock on EDSA.

Instead, Poe and her Committee on Public Services proposed the construction of elevated walkways along the entire stretch of the busy thoroughfare.

Upon hearing of the committee’s proposal, the technocrats at the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) immediately endorsed it and even simulated what EDSA would look like on a rainy, early morning commute day.  The result was staggering, as can be seen in the above photo.

Why did it take so long for our politicians and technocrats to come up with this sure-fire solution to EDSA’s insurmountable traffic problem?
