DAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Davao Bureau – The three stars on the Philippine flag represent the country’s three main islands — Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. But if Senator Francis Tolentino had his way, more stars should be added to the tri-colors.
Tolentino, one of the invited guests during the city government’s celebration of the 121st Philippine Independence Day at the Rizal Park, Davao City, said a fourth star will symbolize the Benham Rise, an island group located at the Northeastern side of the country in the Pacific Ocean.
In addition, he says the flag should also be inclusive of Pangasinan province’s Hundred Islands.
All in all, Tolentino said, 101 stars should be added for a total of 104.
