MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A new social media poll shows that 99% of Filipinos are happy about Rappler CEO Maria Ressa’s arrest for cyber libel charges. Ressa spent the night in jail on February 13 before posting bail the next morning.
Rappler earlier reported on its web site that netizens have decried Ressa’s arrest, but the new poll says otherwise.
The biased news media — both locally and abroad — were quick to report on Ressa’s claim that her arrest was all part of the Duterte government’s move to suppress Press Freedom. Majority of Filipino don’t believe that for a second.
The poll shows that of the 234 respondents, only one person expressed sadness about Ressa’s arrest.
