WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Just days after a group of Philippine (Makabayan) legislators filed a bill to grant Philippine citizenship to 71-year-old Australian missionary Sr. Patricia Fox, President Donald Trump offered the nun U.S. citizenship.
Fox was ordered deported following charges that she violated the terms of her temporary stay in the Philippines. She was accused of participating in political activities which is prohibited under the Constitution.
The Adobo Chronicles spoke with Trump and asked him his rationale for the U.S. citizenship offer to Fox.
The President said that this was consistent with his earlier pronouncement that he would welcome immigrants from white countries.
Many will recall that Trump had questioned why the US would accept more immigrants from Haiti and “shithole countries” in Africa rather than places like Norway, as he rejected a bipartisan immigration deal.
We could not get hold of Sr. Fox to ask her if she would accept Trump’s offer.
