MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Omidyar Network has decided to donate its investment in the online news source, Rappler.

The move was seen as an admission that Omidyar has partial ownership of a Philippine media company which is prohibited by the Constitution.

In confirming the P78 Million donation, Omidyar spokesperson Stephen King told The Adobo Chronicles that the money would go to victims of EJKs in the Philippines — Extra Journalistic Kibitz, meaning those victimized by Rappler’s biased reports and gossip-style journalism.
