WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Americans have seen the last of Presidents’ Day. There will be none this year.
Donald Trump has issued an Executive Order renaming the federal holiday as ‘Ex-Presidents’ Day.’
For many decades, the national holiday was observed to honor all past presidents of the U.S. including the very first president, George Washington.
In signing the Exceutive Order, Trump said that ‘there can only be one sitting U.S. president, and that’s me right now. All the others are ex-presidents.’
This year, the new Ex-Presidents’ Day will be celebrated on Monday, February 19.
