MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It’s been the hush-hush talk of the town lately. Now it’s confirmed: the online news source, Rappler, has dissolved as a corporation and has been reconstituted as Limited Partnership (Ltd.).
The partners? Maria Ressa, former Rappler CEO, and Pia Ranada, former Rappler star reporter.
Rappler has been struggling to engage netizens and maintain a profitable level of readership. It has failed to raise its P5 million goal under an online fundraising.
Everyone saw it coming.
But Ressa doesn’t give up easily. She has partnered with Ranada to establish a minor news online source which they are naming R&R (Ressa & Ranada).
Today, R&R unveiled its new logo — still reminiscent of the old Rappler.
