MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippine Senators are having so much fun with investigative hearings “in aid of legislation.” The hearings not only provide them the opportunity to have their few minutes of fame.  It also helps distract from the fact that they are part of a do-nothing Senate.

Risa Hontiveros is one Senator who basks in the pleasure of Senate hearings, whether it’s about ‘fake news,” illegal drugs or whatever.

So today, she called for a Senate hearing on the alleged missing PhilHealth Funds amounting to P1.7 billion, during the time that she was connected with the health insurance agency.

For starters, she had summoned herself to be one of the resource persons for the hearing.
