BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Baguio Bureau) – It’s known as the summer capital of the Philippines because of its cool weather that provides temperature relief to lowlanders especially during the scorching summer months.

Now, the City of Pines (although pine trees have been significantly diminished over the years), has been named the beauty capital of the Philippines — male and female both.

The distinction came after Kylie Versoza was named Miss Philippines International earlier this year, followed by the victory of John Raspado as Mr. Gay World Philippines.  Both beauties are from Baguio City.

Carrot man Sigmaton, before and after

Not too long ago, and not too far away from Baguio City, the Internet world crowned Jeyrick Sigmaton as the “Carrot Man,” a previously unknown farmer with good looks.  He has since become a model and television personality.

So the next time you visit Baguio City, be prepared not just for the cool weather and the fresh vegetables.  Be amazed by the beauty of those who live in this wonderful mountain resort that approximates everything you’ll find in the City by the Bay, San Francisco!
