NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – In a rare public display of vulnerability and fear, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump apologized to the Filipino people for his comment linking their country to terrorism.
In a recent anti-immigration speech in Maine, Trump has lumped the Philippines among “terrorist nations” from where people should be denied entry to the United States.
Trump, in a statement released today, said that his campaign interns fed him the wrong information, leading him to believe that the entire Philippines was a Muslim country and that it was one of the Republics located in the Middle East.
Many believe that the apology was part of the Trump campaign’s damage control efforts to regain the millions of potential Filipino American votes the candidate may have lost as a result of his ‘terrorist’ comment.
Others, however, think that what prompted Trump to finally apologize was Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s challenge to engage the Republican candidate to a fistfight. That may be too much for Trump to handle.

I think that, for a person who claims to have lived in the US for very long, you are a disappointment. It may be the language barrier, or it may be something you drank while writing this. Many Filipinos support Trump not because he’s an ideal candidate, but because he’s more human than crooked, lying Hillary. I’ve been living here in the U.S for 38 years and I’ve seen how liberal media are so bias in their views and reporting. If a republican had done what Hillary had done, that person would had been in prison or executed already. There are many Filipinos who are not fooled by this party who will do everything and anything to win. I’ve watched Trump’s video 5-6 times to make sure I didn’t misunderstand what said re: when mention Philippines and even wrote down what he said, and here it is: A prominent illegal resident from the Philippines was convicted from plotting to join Al Qaeda and Taliban in order to kill many Americans as possible. And that’s exactly what he said. When he mentioned terrorist nations, he didn’t say Philippines specifically nor did he say that all Filipinos are terrorists. And if Filipinos think for a moment rather than just resharing other people’s post, there are terrorist groups in the southern part of the Philippines, one led by Abu Sayaf (not sure if this is how it’s spelled) who have killed Christians (missionaries) and foreigners especially Americans
and even fellow Filipinos who don’t agree with views or ways of thinking and beliefs. Wake up people!

Islam is older than Christianity in the Philippines when Magellan came and introduced it.
