U.S. PROTESTS MISS WORLD RESULTS

Bali, Indonesia – The United States was aiming for the “grand slam” at this year’s Miss World beauty pageant, focused on winning the crown to add to the Miss Universe title won earlier this year by Miss U.S.A. Olivia Culpo.

Olivia Jordan (yes, another Olivia), U.S.A.’s entry to this pretigious pageant held over the weekend in the Indonesian resort of Bali, made it to the top 10 contestants during Saturday’s finals, but not to the top 5.

Miss Philippines, Megan Young, an early favorite in the competition, went on to win the title, the first ever by a Filipina in Miss World’s 62-year history.  Miss France was first runner-up and Miss Ghana came in third.

Less than 24 hours after the pageant finals, the U.S. filed a formal protest with the Miss World pageant organizers, saying that Young should be credited as a U.S. entry as well.  Young was born in the United States to an American father and Filipina mother, but moved at age 10 to the Philippines where she is currentlly a model, actress and television host.  “Technically, she is also Miss U.S.A,” the protest document indicated. “Even her surname is very American. Can’t she be at least declared as a ‘dual contestant’ by virtue of her dual citizenship?” it added.

Miss World owner Julia Morley has not returned calls from The Adobo Chronicles seeking comment on the U.S. protest.

  4. Can’t understand a such stupid protest. If one day an Afro-American win, will Americans protest that she is also “technicaly” an African country’s miss ?
And what if both her parents would be both born in Africa ?
She’s living in Philippines, working there, having Pilippines nationality and was elected miss Philippines, so ?

  5. Well with all due respect, according to our constitution she is in fact a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN by vitue of Jus Sanguinis (Right of Blood).. This means that in the time of her birth, she is already a Filipino citizen. And another thing, she entered the Miss World beauty pageant representing the Philippines and not the U.S.. The U.S. had their own representative in the said pageant and if we were to accept their claim that Ms. Megan Young indeed represented the United States, then it would violate the Rule of the Miss World Pageant that there should only be ONE representative per country… Therefore, it should be ruled that Miss Megan Young be crowned as Miss World representing the Philippines and not the U.S.

  7. Although Young is a dual citizen at birth. The fact that she moved to the Philippines before her age of majority and lived as Filipina since 10 years old, the act amounted to a choice of Philippine Citizenship. At the age of 18, a dual citizen is obliged to choose between two citizenships either by overt act or in writing. By her moving here as resident since 10 years old creates no legal presumption but that she has chosen to be a Philippine Citizen.

    Accept it, yankees.

  8. Has anyone established that a real protest was filed? By whom? This is not a governmental body but rather a private business running this contest. Where would you file a protest? In a court in Indonesia? Or in the UK?

  10. Man, I don’t get it. Miss America, Nina Davuluri, was criticized for being of Indian decent. She was born and raised in the States which gives her the right to run for the title because indeed America is the place she knows she belongs. Now for Miss World (Megan Young), they want to proclaim that she is of dual citizenship and want to cash in on the success of her winning? I mean, her father IS American and yes, she was born in the States but the life, the people, and the values she has loved and learned are all from the Philippines. Can you people just be happy of someone’s success though it’s not your own? Just saying. Ok, thanks. Bye.

  15. yes, Megan Young has dual citizenship. . American father, governed by US Law which follows jus soli. . ur a citizen of the country where u were born. A filipina mother under philippine laws which follows Jus Sanguinis. . citizen by blood. .regardless she was born in the US, she maintained residence an work in the Philippines, and if she has elected filipino citizexship upon turning 18, clearly she is filipino, because you are required by law to denounce foreign citizenship. when she entered the pageant in the philippines, the requirement was she must be a natural filipino citizen, and when she won as a representative to miss world, her chosen citizenship was filipino, so no, SHE IS FILIPINO :), , nice satire by the way, US wouldnt protest, thats a dumb thing to do and say she should have dual representation, nice job tho 🙂

  18. In my own opinion this is just so simple.. Megan was born in US but she grew up in PH, actually there is this idea of dual citizenship but the fact that she stayed in PH more than in US I can say that she has adopted the values, culture and way of life of Filipinos. She represented Ms. World as a Filipino, having the values of a Filipino with her and now they call her American? technically yes, but logically no……. They could have had this claim before she started with the pageant, why only now?

    1. the woman’s looks is so common in manila. the half-breed look. if it’s caucasian looks alone….it’s not gonna be pretty. caucasian looks are boring. they got to be mixed.

      1. 100% correct! Unless mixed with a good Asian blood , with due respects, Caucasians hardly make it to the top! Remember our very first Miss Universe, Ms. Gloria Diaz, 100% Filipino, Ms. Margie Moran, likewise. Look at Megan Mr. James, is she your typical Caucasian? No way, No chance of being your “all-American” type. Just accept it, she’s half American-half Filipino, but, she chose to be raised in the Philippines and naturally imbibed Filipina pulchriture, her ways are Filipino, not over confident typical of your Miss USA, feeling high and mighty, Megan is just a sweet Asian lady, being herself. Got it?

Ms. Megan won the title Ms. World Philippines and represent our country, luckily she did her best to be the most beautiful lady in the world, and I believe that once you feel comfortable to be where you from and what you are… I don’t think that there’s nothing wrong if Ms. Megan feels to be a Filipina…..

    1. Correct!. Megan Young joined Miss World Philippines, not Miss World USA. Now she’s claiming them because she won, but what if she didn’t.

  23. exactly. i agree to that. before reacting something, we must see to it that the issue is real and with evidences….coz our arguments will be useless and we might hurt other people without knowing first the real scenario. Let’s not be judgmental specially that we are not perfect in our own ways. Let’s ask God’s wisdom and discernment before barking an issue in order not to commit wrong comments or decisions. 1. Yes, people should not instantly agree of what they saw from any net news after all I don’t believe that US People think that way. Americans are practical and not opinionated people. The respect of Filipino nationals to american people comes with great friendship and smile in a most diplomatic manner. Filipinos has its own time to show to the world what is beauty really mean. Because Ms. World 2013 Grand Winner Binibining Matalinong Gwapa na Pinay Megan Young advantage to other candidates is her faith and confident of bringing the Crown for the Glory of God above and in service to the Filipino People across the world because what she did was to re-educate mankind the important of our core being a human by emphasizing the simple theory of being a helpful individual and by how we can initiates and move people to help others by helping them out as well as an example. her statement as a reply during the Q & A portion was very simple but truly a World Class – Totally Elegant in manner as its provide a perfect answer in a most diplomatic but wholesomely sexy effect to the panel of judges and the people world wide. Because of Core Value series of inner personal real drama, there is no other answer that could bet it.
