U.S. PROTESTS MISS WORLD RESULTS

Bali, Indonesia – The United States was aiming for the “grand slam” at this year’s Miss World beauty pageant, focused on winning the crown to add to the Miss Universe title won earlier this year by Miss U.S.A. Olivia Culpo.

Olivia Jordan (yes, another Olivia), U.S.A.’s entry to this pretigious pageant held over the weekend in the Indonesian resort of Bali, made it to the top 10 contestants during Saturday’s finals, but not to the top 5.

Miss Philippines, Megan Young, an early favorite in the competition, went on to win the title, the first ever by a Filipina in Miss World’s 62-year history.  Miss France was first runner-up and Miss Ghana came in third.

Less than 24 hours after the pageant finals, the U.S. filed a formal protest with the Miss World pageant organizers, saying that Young should be credited as a U.S. entry as well.  Young was born in the United States to an American father and Filipina mother, but moved at age 10 to the Philippines where she is currentlly a model, actress and television host.  “Technically, she is also Miss U.S.A,” the protest document indicated. “Even her surname is very American. Can’t she be at least declared as a ‘dual contestant’ by virtue of her dual citizenship?” it added.

Miss World owner Julia Morley has not returned calls from The Adobo Chronicles seeking comment on the U.S. protest.

  3. the one who wrote the protest should’ve studied their statement before going ahead with the protest, you see how can Megan Young be considered or credited a US entry when she is not a USA beauty title holder? , nor has she ever entered a Miss USA pageant ? she is not even a US citizen but a naturalized philippine citizen.the protest really defies all logic . anyway how can these people even be qualified to evaluate who can enter the pageant. all contestants has been scrutinized at all aspects before even being allowed to apply for the pageant, and by the organizers and promoters who has formulated he criterium for such a contest.

  4. The blog came from paid ABSCBN bloggers who were also the culprit of Megan’s topless photoshoot frm Rogue magazine. The poor network pays bunch of idiot bloggers and post bluff articles to smear rival network’s achievement! ABSCBN is the only network who pays bloggers and dummy accts to spread lies.

  7. Megan was born in the US so naturally she was an American citizen then, but she eventually came to the Philippines at the age of 10 and had been naturalized as a Filipino citizen. So in papers Megan is already a Filipino. And apparently her mother is 100% Filipino. Look at Shivaker He was an Indian, his parents are both Indians but he had been naturalized as a Filipino because He wanted to become a legitimate Filipino. So now He is considered as a Filipino. Riza Santos (Miss Universe-Canada 2013) for example has Filipino parents but since she was born and raised in Canada and her citizenship is a Canadian she can legitimately represent Canada to the Miss Universe pageant this year. And if ever she wins the Philippines can not claim that the Philippines wins since she chose to represent Canada even though by blood she is pure Filipino. No matter what these Americans say Megan chose to be a Filipino and indeed she is, she represented the Philippines. She is a Filipino in papers, in physical attributes and especially in heart. Period.

Nakakalungkot 🙂

  11. Stupid, didn’t they realized that Megan Young won the Local Preliminary to the Miss World and entered as Miss Philippines. As far as I know, Cory Quirino’s stringent MWP pageant rule indicated that the candidate should be a bearer of Philippine passport before she can be an official candidate.

  12. why don’t they stick on their own representative? its because they loose the pageant, they claiming for the win of megan prior on her citizenship? duh they should gotten megan first as their representative on usa before claiming on your right! Looser!

  15. BY LAW, if you are born in America, you are considered AMERICAN first, THEN your other nationality. Now, I am completely on Philippines side, I’m not american, I’m from Canada. It’s stupid how americans are acting because they didn’t move one. They’re acting like sore losers. But if there is any saying in pageant rules that have to comply to this law, she would have to be declared as a dual contestant. She may be a filipino by heart, but seeing how this is a law in America, she might have to be considered Miss World USA as well.

    1. its not an issue of your citizenship here…Maegan Young compete for the title representing the Philippines, not USA. US has their own representative to compete for the pageant. It’s which country you are representing when you went there to compete not the country of which you are a citizen. OMG…just wondering why they are thinking such a thing.

    1. guys didn’t you know that all US have were hiram or taken from other nationalities who in the early age like the Europeans went to the USA to escape their country’s mishaps…like the pajamas, the wall clocks, the pizzas, and a lot more things, kung tutuusin wala naman talagang sariling maituturing ang mga kano kundi un mga Indians na ancestors nila, kasi sila ang mga inabutan duon ng mga ibat ibang race na humayo sa amerika para lisanin ang kahirapan sa kaninkanilang bansa……so what do they have that they own, anyone ….?

    2. For the AMERICANS ; ALL THEY HAVE, THEY OWE…..

      An American is one who;

Awakens in pajamas, a costume from India, and looks in a mirror invented by Phoenicians

Baths with soap, created in ancient Gaul, and dries with a towel an original Turkish delight.

Slips into garments of cotton, silk or wool, which origins are England, Japan and Australia, and puts his feet into leather, tanned in Argentina.

Ties on a strip of colored cloth, a survivor of shoulder shawls first worn by 17th century Croats.

Has breakfast by the clock, a medieval European invention, eating wheat, a native of Asia out of a pottery dish, first known to China.

Has the juice of an orange, first cultivated in the Mediterranean, coffee from Brazil and waffles originally served in Scandinavia.

Then reaches for a piece of molded felt, a hat, first invented by Asiatic nomads and gets into a car powered by Middle Eastern oil.

Buys a newspaper with coins, invented in ancient Lydia and dated according to a calendar devised by Egyptians, improved by the Romans, and perfected by an Italian Pope.

Reads the news in lettered characters invented by ancient Phoenicians and modified by Greeks and Romans, printed by a process invented in Germany on paper discovered in China.

Scans the news from foreign lands, then utters fervent thanks to a Hebrew God in a language borrowed from the English for being a 100% European.

    1. we’re proud that a Filipino blood reach the final two of AI, but we didn’t asked them to share the honors to us unlike this one where they want to have a share of the win…megan’s overall winning form was made in the Philippines, she will never say salamat had she represented the U.S. in pageants, the citizenship depends on where the contestant resides the past 6 months prior to the pagent and megan was in RP for the last 13 years, masyado ng madupang ang US e ilan na ba ang Ms. U, Ms. I at Ms. W nila pero wala pa yata clang Ms. Supra, Ms. Earth…hehe daig pa rin ng mga brown monkeys ang American beauty!

    2. I think, that case is a lil bit diff. because contestants are not the same as “representatives”. Contestants auditioned to win, representing only their self, Unlike the representatives, they joined to represent something, for example, a “certain” country. Little things. hehe just want to share my opinion. 🙂

    3. FYI. The Filipinos did not claim Jessica Sanchez to be ours. The netizens just stated that Jessica Sanchez won because of her nationality which has nothing to do with it.

  26. There is a legit issue here that needs to be clarified in the eligibility status of a dual or multi citizen contestants. I do not know for sure but why is USA bringing up the issue? There is probably a glitch in the citizenship status whether native born or not. I do not know. I am just surmising!

  28. I was not aware that citizenship will merit conditions in the event…didn’t a search for a representative for a country was made prior to the event?…are they debunking their representative there just because she didn’t won? and goes after the one who won because of a citizenship?….Is the Miss USA representative, all those who have US citizenship? i thought a pageant for that is held, to determine the representative….that is indeed unbelievable news…Funny too.

    1. Yes you are right, and besides Megan Young joined and won Miss World Philippines 2013 which is a local beauty pageant. I guess USA’s claims would be valid if Megan joined and won Miss USA 2013 and placed as Miss USA world, right?
