U.S. PROTESTS MISS WORLD RESULTS

Bali, Indonesia – The United States was aiming for the “grand slam” at this year’s Miss World beauty pageant, focused on winning the crown to add to the Miss Universe title won earlier this year by Miss U.S.A. Olivia Culpo.

Olivia Jordan (yes, another Olivia), U.S.A.’s entry to this pretigious pageant held over the weekend in the Indonesian resort of Bali, made it to the top 10 contestants during Saturday’s finals, but not to the top 5.

Miss Philippines, Megan Young, an early favorite in the competition, went on to win the title, the first ever by a Filipina in Miss World’s 62-year history.  Miss France was first runner-up and Miss Ghana came in third.

Less than 24 hours after the pageant finals, the U.S. filed a formal protest with the Miss World pageant organizers, saying that Young should be credited as a U.S. entry as well.  Young was born in the United States to an American father and Filipina mother, but moved at age 10 to the Philippines where she is currentlly a model, actress and television host.  “Technically, she is also Miss U.S.A,” the protest document indicated. “Even her surname is very American. Can’t she be at least declared as a ‘dual contestant’ by virtue of her dual citizenship?” it added.

Miss World owner Julia Morley has not returned calls from The Adobo Chronicles seeking comment on the U.S. protest.

  1. If this was true, then they got it all wrong. Technically, she is born of a filipino mother and an american father which makes her a Filipino Citizen. so, she’s a Filipino citizen. According to our laws (i don’t care about the laws of other countries), One is considered a Fiipino citizen if one has a Filipino father or mother who are citizens of the Philippines. Therefore, she is a filipino citizen.

  4. Filling that formal protest just made USA seem so desperate.. Lol. Don’t they accept that they just loose? Why do they have to claim that Megan Young is from the Philippines. She joined pageantry in the Philippines. If she wanted to represent USA, she would join there! COMMON SENSE USA! Your IQ as a country went down 100pts. So don’t claim whats not yours!

  5. Oh my god. This is hilarious, the U.S. only wants to win. I can really tell that they want that crown from the first 2 sentences. Megan Young represented the philippines and she won. There is nothing they can do now they already crowned her. Yeah, i’m not convinced, US.

  9. Thanks! Justin, the officials behind this protest must be out of their mind.. U know,I really appreciate that some of you support Megan instead of supporting the said protest.. Because it’s totally nonsense US had already engaged in so many things in this world.. Infact they have to be thankful even though Megan did not represent the US atleast she never denies that she was once an american citizen, and look at her skin she might looks a bit westernian but her skin says it all that she is a filipina. Thanks!

  11. duhh..it doesn’t matter whether she holds dual citizenship. what matters is which country she represented during the time of the pageant. if she she had lost the contest, would U.S. still make a protest and an argument of the probability of her representing both countries of her citizenship?

  13. Oh common, give respect to your candidate Ms USA. I’m sure you will do the same to Megan if she didn’t win. Dual contestant? You want such candidates to wear sashes like Ms. Philippine/USA or Ms. France/Brazil or Ms. Iraq/Iceland? Duh! Such a stupid argument.

  14. Ohh come on! dont make billions of issues about that thing! as far as we know you americans keep staying our country because of trillions of reasons, why don’t you guys just give this one to us??? are you this greedy?? Yes she is half Filipina and half American but come on if she never won this pageant …would you guys still claim that she is american??? TRY TO OPEN YOUR HEART sometimes just sometimes

  15. Young never disowned being an American by blood but chose to represent the Philippines. There has been a rule or policy for dual citizenship; one may be a dual citizen but he/she can only be loyal to one.

  16. I worry over the state of mind of the contemporary Filipino who cannot differentiate a satire from a legitimate news article. Although I will say I had a lot more fun reading the comments than the article itself.

    1. Well, hello there my friend. Someone who actually understands the difference between a satire and a legitimate news. Hayy mga pilipino nga naman, napaka-ingorante, they just blow off their steams bigla bigla ng hindi man lang gumagawa ng kakaunting research. Pinapaniwalaan lahat ng sinasabi ng media, don’t they know that media is a form of art as well where people can use their creativity to write bogus stories.

America is the melting pot of different races, does this mean every time somebody wins the beauty pageant and has a drop of an American blood they would claim its theirs? so why are we having a pageant/contest? During Olympics several American citizen play on there country of origin,so why don”t they claim/stop them.
