MANNY PACQUIAO PROMISES 100% ATTENDANCE IF ELECTED SENATOR

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Yesterday, we reported that Filipino champion boxer Manny Pacquiao is running for a seat in the Philippine Senate.  But the congressman from Saranggani province has a not-so-perfect record in the House of Representatives.

Pacquiao earned the distinction of racking up the biggest number of absences in the 15th Congress. He was absent for 60 out of the 168 session days, records from the House of Representatives show.

Realizing his attendance record might turn off voters in the 2016 elections, Pacquiao today signed an affidavit promising that if elected senator, he will have a perfect, 100% attendance.

This means that he will hang up his boxing gloves for good, abandon his newly-found career as a basketball playing coach, and give up his fledgling career as Karaoke King.

FILIPINO CHAMPION BOXER MANNY PACQUIAO IS RUNNING FOR SENATOR, AS PER “GOD’S WILL”

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles)  – GMA News is reporting that Filipino champion boxer Manny Pacquiao has confirmed that he is running for senator of the Philippines, with the blessings of his wife, mother and God.

The congressman from the province of Saranggani follows in the footsteps of Governor from the U.S. State of Wisconsin, Scott Walker, who when he announced he was seeking the Republican nomination for president in the 2016 elections, said it was all “God’s plan.”

The eight-division boxing champ did not say under whose ticket he would run.

His wife Jinky, who is the vice governnor of Saranggani supports his decision, and his mother, Mommy Dionisia, gave her blessing, saying it is God’s will for her son to run for national office.

It wasn’t clear whether or not Pacquiao will retire from boxing as a result of his candidacy. He lost to American Floyd Mayweather in last May’s “Fight of the Century” in Las Vegas.

As a congressman, he holds the distinction of the legislator with the most number of absences. (Well, to be fair, he was out training and fighting).

Back to Scott Walker.  He has, since then, dropped out of the U.S. presidential race.  Apparently, God’s “plan” changed.

Will God change His mind for Pacquiao as well?

Stay tuned!

FILIPINO BOXER MANNY PACQUIAO: SENATOR FOR ALL RIVAL PARTIES

pacquiaoMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Filipino champion boxer Manny Pacquiao, as many already know, is an elected representative of Philippine Congress.  He represents his province of Sarangani.

Pacquiao is a member of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), the party of incumbent Vice President Jejomar Binay, who is one of the declared candidates for president in 2016.  So it just makes sense that if Pacquiao were to run for Senator, he would do so under the UNA ticket, right?

Not necessarily.

Pacquiao is also being wooed by the ruling Liberal Party of President NoyNoy Aquino who has anointed his Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas as the party’s presidential bet.

But the story doesn’t end there.

Senators Grace Poe and Chiz Escudero  who have been endorsed by a third party, the National People’s Coalition (NPC) as either presidential candidates both, or as a president-vice president tandem, are also considering Pacquiao to be part of their senatorial ticket.

Apparently, Pacquiao is seen as a sure winner and all the parties want him on their respective tickets. The decision is now in the boxer’s corner.

‘Pacman’ is extremely popular and is best known politically as the top absentee legislator in the current Congress.  Well, that counts for something, we guess.
