POPE FRANCIS DIDN’T KNOW WHO KIM DAVIS WAS

imageTHE VATICAN, Italy (The Adobo Chronicles®) – As with all trips by heads of state, the itinerary of a visiting dignitary is always packed, consisting of a whirlwind of welcome ceremonies, state banquets, speeches before various groups, meetings with key officials, field trips, photo opportunities, and yes, private meetings, both scheduled and unscheduled.

Pope Francis’ visit to the United States last week was no exception.

In between his major appearances at The White House, before Congress and the United Nations, and the huge Christian family gathering in Philadelphia, the Pope also had scheduled and impromptu moments with the homeless, the incarcerated, victims of clergy sexual abuse, and the lucky few who were simply hustled in and out for private audiences.

Rowan County (KY) clerk Kim Davis was among the lucky ones, thanks to persistent ‘lobbying’ by Liberty Counsel, Davis’ attorneys in her legal case in Kentucky. According to reports, the “secret” meeting between Francis and Davis was brokered by Archbishop Carl Vigano, papal nuncio to the United States at whose residence the pope stayed during his time in Washington, D.C.

While The Vatican has confirmed that the meeting between the Pope Francis and Davis did take place, it clarified that the Pontiff didn’t exactly know who Davis was. “You know, the Pope doesn’t read U.S. newspapers or watch American television,” a Vatican spokesperson said.

“What is clear is that the Pope thought that Davis was a U.S. immigrant with a Korean mother and American father, who was advocating for comprehensive immigration reform in Washington,” The Vatican said.

“Since immigration was one of the Pope’s key messages during his U.S. visit, he agreed to briefly meet with who he thought was an immigrant rights advocate.”

“That’s when the Pope thanked Davis for her “courage” and “to stay strong.”

BARACK OBAMA’S SECRET MEETING WITH KIM JONG-UN

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles®) – There seems to be a double standard when it comes to secret meetings among controversial politicians and religious leaders.

The social media was abuzz with angry posts about The Vatican’s admission that Pope Francis did meet with Rowan County (KY) county clerk Kim Davis at the Vatican Embassy in Washington, D.C. last week.

Many interpreted the meeting as the Pope’s endorsement of discrimination against gay men and women in as far as marriage is concerned.

During the secret meeting, the Pope allegedly thanked Davis for her “courage” and asked her to “stay strong.”

Davis was jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, despite an order by the court.

Yet, everything seems to be hush-hush regarding another secret meeting — between President Barack Obama and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.

It allegedly happened shortly after the president met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, during the latter’s official state visit to the U.S. last week.

No details were released by The White House regarding the Obama-Kim secret meeting.

After a thorough investigation, The Adobo Chronicles® can now confirm that the secret meeting did happen, but it was between Obama and Kim’s alter ego, Randall Park.

Park played the role of Kim Jong-Un in the controversial film, “The Interview.” The Sony flick was pulled from theaters after threats of possible attacks on moviegoers.

Park was a guest of The White House during a state dinner held in honor of the Chinese President.

VATICAN CONFIRMS MEETING BETWEEN POPE FRANCIS AND KIM DAVIS IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

imageROWAN COUNTY, Kentucky (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – How the paparazzis missed reporting on the ‘secret meeting’ between Pope Francis and Kentucky clerk Kim Davis in Washington, D.C. last week, is a mystery. Or perhaps even a miracle.

Yesterday, lawyers for Davis claimed that Francis met with Davis the same day as the pontiff’s historic speech to a joint session of Congress. According  to Liberty Counsel, which has represented Davis in her legal battles, the Pope told  the defiant county clerk to “stay strong.”

Davis sparked a national firestorm after refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in Rowan County, citing her religious beliefs. She was jailed for five nights before a judge allowed her to return to her job — as long as she doesn’t interfere with the granting of licenses.

In a statement released by Liberty Counsel, Davis says she was “humbled” and never thought she would be granted an audience with the popular and unpredictable pontiff. The conservative legal nonprofit said Davis and her husband, Joe, shared face time with Francis at the Vatican Embassy.

She and the pontiff hugged, and he presented her and her husband with two rosaries, which she is giving to her parents, who are Catholic, Liberty Counsel said.

Today, The Vatican officially confirmed that the meeting did happen, but that the two never discussed Davis’ opposition to same-sex marriage. Instead, Davis asked for forgiveness and the Pope’s blessing for her marital missteps.

Davis was divorced three times and had children out of wedlock, both of which are against Catholic Church teachings.

The Pope has said previously  that Christians should ‘not judge’ gay men and women.

In his meeting with Davis, Francis reportedly told her, “neither am I in a position to judge you for your marital sins.”

Despite her meeting with the Pope, Davis says she still would not affix her signature to marriage licenses issued to same-sex couples in Rowan County.
