If Grace Poe And Bongbong Marcos Are Elected President And Vice President, One Of Them Has To Step Down

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Now that the Philippine Supreme Court has removed all legal impediments to Senator Grace Poe’s candidacy for president, it is time to look forward to the May 9, 2016 elections.

Poe, the consistent frontrunner in national polls, was previously disqualified by the Commission on Elections by virtue of her being a foundling as well as questions regarding her residency.

Earlier, The Adobo Chronicles reported that vice presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos has admitted and is standing by his statements that he and Poe are siblings.  It has been rumored for quite some time  that Poe, who was adopted by actors Fernando Poe, Jr. and Susan Roces, was an illegitimate child of Ferdinand E. Marcos with Rosemary Sonora, Roces’ sister.

All eyes are thereforce focused on both the presidential and vice presidential race.  If Poe is elected president and Marcos wins the vice presidency, one of them has to step down.

Constitutional experts say that the two cannot sit as president and vice president simultaneously because of conflict of interest as well as laws against nepotism.

So Poe is hoping that Marcos is not elected vice president and Marcos is hoping that Poe fails to clinch the presidency.

Poe and Marcos are running under different political parties.  In the Philippines, voters can choose their president from one party and the vice president from another.

Sibling rivalry is real.  Even in politics.

Philippine Supreme Court Expected Rule In Favor Of Senator Grace Poe, Thanks To Senator Bongbong Marcos

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Only one thing remains to be a hindrance to Senator Grace Poe being elected next president of the Philippines: the disqualification case against her now pending with the Supreme Court.

The case revolves around the issue of Poe not being a natural-born citizen as required of all candidates for president.  Poe, a foundling, has not established her natural-born status because the citizenship of her biological parents is unknown.  She was adopted by film actors Fernando Poe, Jr., and Susan Roces.

The Adobo Chronicles  has learned that the Supreme Court is about to issue its decision on the landmark case, and it would be in favor of Poe, thanks to vice presidential candidate, Senator Bongbong Marcos.

There is an urban legend that claims Poe is an illegitimate child of Bongbong’s father, the late Ferdinand E. Marcos with Susan’s sister, Rosemarie Sonora.

Well, Bongbong has openly acknowledged that Poe is his sister, and just recently he declared that he was “standing by” his statement. That was good enough for the Supreme Court to rule that Poe is indeed a natural-born citizen.

The big question now is, if Poe is elected president and Marcos is elected vice president, wouldn’t that constitute nepotism and a conflict of interest?

That could be the next case to be brought before the Supreme Court.
