Washington, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – President Barack Obama seems headed for even more direct confrontation with the Republicans in Congress today by revising his previous executive actions.

Already, House Republicans are taking legal action against Obama for what they are calling abuse of his constitutional authority when he issued executive actions granting some 5 Million undocumented immigrants temporary relief from deportation.

But today, Obama, speaking at the White House, said, “I am here to announce what I’m sure will be the most talked about executive action this month. I am taking an action that is fully within my legal authority. I am now granting not just temporary relief but full amnesty.”

Obama’s announcement on the eve of Thanksgiving Day was most welcome news for Cheese and Mac, the two turkeys granted full amnesty today in accordance with White House tradition.

Wasilla, Alaska (The Adobo Chronicles) – In a sharp turnaround that shocked both Democrats and Republicans, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today threw her support for President Barack Obama’s executive actions on immigration.

Obama’s executive actions will benefit some 5 Million undocumented immigrants now in the U.S., notably parents of U.S. citizens or legal residents as well as those who have been brought to this country as young children.

“I have been doing a lot of soul-searching lately,” Palin said, “and I have come to the conclusion that it s about time we fixed our broken immigration system and welcome immigrants from all over the world who could greatly contribute to our society.” Her change of heart comes right before Americans celebrate Thanksgiving Day this week.

Palin said that it has recently been brought to her attention that the very first Thanksgiving in 1621 involved Native Americans making a food offering to undocumented immigrants — pilgrims from England.

In addition, the former Vice Presidential candidate acknowledged that she herself comes from a family of immigrants. Her ancestry is English, with German and Irish. She also has remote Dutch ancestry, and extremely remote Scottish roots.

“While we are a nation of laws, what is more important is that we are a nation of immigrants,” Palin said.

Upon hearing the news, President Obama called Palin to thank her and invited her to have beer with him at The White House after the Thanksgiving holiday.  Palin gladly accepted.

All’s well that ends well.
