Birther Issue: Donald Trump Goes After Ted Cruz And The Philippines’ Grace Poe

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is undeniably a birther: he has continuously questioned Barack Obama’s citizenship, claiming the president was born in Kenya and should not have been qualified to run for U.S. president.

Fast forward to 2016.

Trump is running against Senator Ted Cruz who appears to be the greatest threat to the billionaire’s quest for the presidency.  Cruz was born in Canada to a Cuban-born father and American mother.  That, according to Trump, does not make the senator a ‘natural-born citizen’ which is a primary qualification to become president of the United States.

Trump has also turned his attention to the Philippines which is holding its own presidential elections in May this year.  One of the leading candidates is Senator Grace Poe who faces questions about her being a ‘natural-born citizen’ on the grounds that she is a foundling , adopted by film actors Fernando Poe, Jr. and Susan Roces, and whose biological parents remain unknown to this day.

Asked by The Adobo Chronicles why it matters to him who gets elected Philippine president, Trump said, “If I become U.S. president, I  cannot be dealing with a foreign leader who is not legitimate.”

He added: “Grace Poe is either a natural-born citizen or is not. And if the answer is no, then as U.S. president, I do not have any business recognizing her as a fellow head of state.”

Do we see a budding alliance between Ted Cruz and Grace Poe?

AQUINO, ROXAS TO MEET WITH DONALD TRUMP TO DISCUSS SENATOR POE CITIZENSHIP ISSUE

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles® ) –  Philippine President NoyNoy Aquino and his anointed successor Mar Roxas will fly to Las Vegas this weekend for an unofficial visit to the United States. While there, the duo will meet with Republican presidential canidate Donald Trump at the latter’s Trump Towers.

The purpose of the meeting: to seek Trump’s advice on how best to deal with the citizenship issue faced by Senator Grace Poe who has just declared her candidacy in the 2016 Philippine presidential elections.

Poe’s political opponents have questioned whether or not she was born in the Philippines, a qualification to become president. She was adopted by Actors Fernando Poe, Jr. and Susan Roces when she was a baby. The senator’s biological parents are unknown.

Aquino and Roxas are running scared because Poe is extremely popular and continues to maintain the lead in national polls among presidential candidates.

Many will recall that Trump is a self-identified birther, having stubbornly pursued the question of whether or not President  Barack Obama was born in the United States. Obama released his long-form Hawaii birth certificate in April 2011 after speculation from Trump and others that he might have been born elsewhere.

“We’d like Trump’s advice on how we can use the citizenship issue against Poe in the presidential campaign. That’s the only way we can defeat the senator,” Roxas told reporters.

Aquino will also extend a formal invitation to Trump to visit the Philippines before his term as president expires in 2016. “I will be very honored to be among the very first world leaders to welcome the future president of the United States,” Aquino said.

DONALD TRUMP TO TREVOR NOAH: ‘SHOW ME YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE’

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – Real estate mogul Donald Trump just can’t let go of his birther rants, and he seems to be getting more and more desperate about his misplaced crusade.

Trump led the charge on the view that Barack Obama wasn’t born in the United States, and questioned the authenticity of the president’s publicly-released copy of his Hawaii birth certificate.

On the same day that Ted Cruz (R-TX) announced that he was running for president, Trump suggested that the Republican senator may not be eligible to become president because he was born in Canada. Cruz , of course, has maintained that he is eligible to be president since he was born to an American mother, despite having been born in Calgary, Alberta. He was a dual citizen until 2014 when he renounced his Canadian citizenship.

Today, Trump launched his latest birther attack against Trevor Noah who, just this week, was named successor to Jon Stewart who would be stepping down as host of the satirical ‘The Daily Show’ sometime this year.

“I need you to show your birth certificate,’ Trump challenged Noah, ‘to prove that you are truly African American.’

Apparently, Trump missed that part of Comedy Central’s announcement and the subsequent media coverage of Noah’s appointment, stating that the biracial comedian is, in fact, from South Africa, born to a South African mom and a German dad.

When informed about Noah’s non-U.S. citizenship, Trump immediately turned his attention back to Miss Japan, Ariana Miyamoto, a half-Japanese and half-African American who will represent her country in the next Miss Universe Beauty Pageant which he owns.

Earlier, Trump had announced that he would disqualify Miss Japan from competing in Miss Universe because of her biracial status.
