PH Government To Tax Manufacturers And Consumers Of Bland and Spicy Foods!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The government of the Philippines is serious about improving the health status of Filipinos and preventing the onset or exacerbation of common diet-related illnesses such as diabetes, kidney disease and obesity.

A major strategy of the government is to impose new or increased taxes on sugary as well as salty foods on both stakeholders — manufacturers and consumers.

But in order to avoid being accused of discrimination, the Marcos administration is now also contemplating on taxing manufacturers and consumers of bland and spicy foods — to the disappointment of tokwa (tofu) makers and laing fans.

All for one, one for all.

Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg To Switch Roles For One Week!

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Enough with online debate. Forget the cage fight. It’s time to seriously crown the world’s Social Media King!

After back-and-forth exchanges defending their respective social media platforms, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have agreed to once and for all prove who is better than the other.

The two men accepted a challenge proposed by netizens in which they will switch roles for one week to determine who can better manage a social media platform.

Musk will assume the role of CEO of Facebook, and Zuckerberg will become executive chair and chief technology officer of Twitter — for one week.

At the end of the 7-day challenge, the two men will hold a press event where they would list their respective accomplishments in their assumed roles. Netizens would then vote on who they think should be proclaimed social media king.

Unprecedented Triple Honorary Degrees From Ateneo de Manila University!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Ateneo de Manila University now holds the distinction of the most number of honorary doctorate degrees awarded to deserving Filipinos.

For the first time ever, a university will award not one, but three honorary doctorate degrees at this year’s commencement exercises.

The honorees are ex-Vice President Leni Robredo, TV host and actress Kim Chiu, and comedienne and beauty pageant contestant Herlene Budol.

The three are being conferred a Doctorate Degree In Mass Communications, Honoris Causa.

ADMU said in a press statement that the three women exemplify great courage in publicly communicating uplifting ideas for the betterment of Philippine society. This, despite their inherent challenges in self-expression.
